How much was his player option? Because I don't see him as a player that can get a fat contract. I guess he may want a longer contract maybe?

I'm not sure, but it was most likely around league minimum.

Maybe he just wants to decide where to play, in Cleveland he may be behind Allen and Mobley. No minutes for him.
I doubt he gets more than the minimum, but he may find a team where he can actually get minutes.

I take back anything I said before, Andre Igoudala is the vet we sign to play "backup PG"
Perfect role for him at this point and the value he'd provide as another mentor >>>> any other vet out there given his history here
Easy move unless someone wants to pay him more (doubt it)

Ennis/Batum/OPJ TPMLE

Dieng/Chriss/Other vet big

I prefer to waive Mulder, Smiley, Lee and resign Baze

--------------------------------------------
Depth chart
Curry/Andre/Mannion(2w)
Klay/Poole/Moody/Baze or Lee
Wiggins/Batum or Ennis or OPJ/Kuminga
Green/JTA/EP
Looney/Wiseman/Dieng or Chriss or Other

----------------------------------------------
8 man playoff rotation
Starters: Curry/Klay/Wiggins/Green/Looney or Wiseman, depends on Wiseman's progress

Bench: Poole/Batum/Andre

w/ JTA, Kuminga, Moody, Baze or Lee, Looney or Wiseman, Vet big, EP

I'm all for Hartenstein. He's very energetic, intense, all over the place. Overall, he appears to be somewhat partially insane, and I like that in a backup big.

Myers said what we've seen ... the league is all in on versatile wings so they are very hard to find as free agents. The Warriors drafted 2, so FA is even more clearly playmaker/shooting big.

TJ and Olynyk please.

Slater on the radio this morning said the Warriors are going hard after Batum as a free agent. Obviously they’re limited monetarily, and I’m not sure Id want to use the MLE on him, but a good piece to add to our mix for sure.

It was rumored that Batum was coming before Klay got hurt. With Kawhi missing most if not all of next season, then Batum might be open to coming over.

Now get me Theis or Olynyk, and we can check a couple of vet boxes.

I'd be good with Batum/Olynyk

I like Theis, a bit more realistic.

I'd even be down for Chriss again or Dieng. Olynyk, especially if we go hard at Batum with the TPMLE (which I believe we should), is likely out of reach.

I’d be completely on-board with getting Batum (TP MLE) and Dieng (vet minimum) if we can. And if we can’t get Dieng, trying to bring back Chriss. (Note: I find it kind of funny that some people seemingly think it’s a given that Chriss would come back, and include him on the roster, and ignore the fact that we actually traded him to San Antonio last year, so he doesn’t have any current ties to the Warriors. But I digress.)

Batum has added heft and strength, and actually played some small-ball center for the Clippers last year. I think that he and Draymond together in the closing line-up would be fantastic. Previously I’ve been favoring going after Otto Porter with the TP MLE, but based on yesterday’s draft, I’d put Batum as the top target now. (Though I wouldn’t be disappointed if we ended up with Porter, who is more of a 3/4 hybrid, whereas Batum has actually evolved to more of a playmaking 4/5 hybrid.)

I actually suspect that back-up PG isn’t as much of a priority for the front office. Call it “reading between the lines”, but I think the Warriors are expecting Mannion to contribute pretty readily last year, and it’s hard not to squint and be able see that. He’s been really impressive playing (and somewhat leading) the Italian team in qualifying and the Olympics themselves, but we think he’s not good enough to be a contributor on our roster? Poole can obviously make plays for himself and others, and I think they’re looking at Mannion as being at least the 3rd-team PG (with Poole being 2nd-team), and maybe even a full back-up.

Where I think there are going to be a lot of “casualties” is amongst Mulder, Lee, Payton, and Smailagic (obviously). I’d honestly expect Lee to be the only one to be back, but it’s possible none of them will be.

And I suspect we’re going to try to move on from Paschall, trying to trade him for a second-round pick from somebody (even if it’s protected), largely because we’ll need the roster space.

So here’s what I think we may end up like when all is said and done.

Curry / Poole / Mannion
Klay / Moody / Lee (and Poole)
Wiggins / JTA (and Moody and Kuminga?)
Draymond / Batum / Kuminga
Looney / Wiseman / Dieng

(And one other possibility - if Jessup blows us away in Summer League, he could displace Lee.)

I think people around here were saying that when he got waived we were able to help him rehab still. Can't find any actual report on this but he was working out in SF earlier this month and had his "first game back" up in Seattle at JCraw's Pro-Am.

I don't think any bridges were burned, I think if he can't get anymore money elsewhere he'd come back here pretty quickly.

I don't think the Warriors will start Looney. His body just can't take it and Kerr likes him off the bench.

GP2 has a contract so he's still in play at PG.

Starters: Curry, Klay, Wiggins, Green, FA (Olynyk, Chriss, Theis, Dieng)

Youngsters: Poole, Moody, Kuminga, Paschall, Wiseman

Rotation: Nico, Lee, Batum, JTA, Looney

Yeah, Chriss has had nothing but positive to say about the Warriors despite them moving him around a bunch.

Understood…… there definitely doesn’t seem to be bad blood between them, despite the trade. But I do find it humorous how many people’s communication seems to suggest that he’s still “part of the family” and we can just bring him back, almost like he’s under contract with no other options.

There were no hard feelings, Chriss got paid his salary and was going to be a FA come August no matter what. The deal was strictly business, the Warriors saved some lux tax, and with the $1.7M they included in the deal, SA paid his salary and made a few bucks for themselves. Both teams made money, Chriss understood what was going on.

I don't think Rose is available for the money the Warriors have, and I'd like to aim higher than Love if they only add one big in FA.
