The jazz also just drafted Kyle Filipowski, who will be a cheaper and younger alternative to Markkanen. I just can't see the ainge dolling out a big contract to lauri at this stage in the team's development.

Re: Current offer on the table for Lauri
Trading for a bad fit just because its the only option left is everything ownership said they weren't
I'm all for trading making a trade, but I'm for selling high and buying low. 4 1sts for Lauri is not buying low, its not even buying medium

Yes, Ainge wants a bundle of draft picks. But, he also wants another young player - most likely Podz - that he can develop, play for cheap and spin off in a few years for what - that's right, even more draft picks.
I agree,
I would add Podz to the deal and take back the pick swaps.
But Ainge would want more.

Re: Current offer on the table for Lauri
Sure, Ainge wants JK, Podz, & Moody and the picks. He knows he's not getting that much. It's called negotiating. Reports now say Podz is Ainge's preference over JK (probably because he'd have to pay JK next year).
So, if that's what makes this deal work -- throwing in Podz -- then you do it. Think this deal is pretty close to being done.
Warriors are giving up a lot, for sure. But LM is relatively young (27) and should be a cornerstone for years to come. Pull the trigger, Lacob.

Warriors are one Curry injury or retirement from being a lottery team so wouldn't trade future picks.
I would gamble on Moody, Kuminga, Podz and Davis developing info quality starters.

Re: Current offer on the table for Lauri
I wouldn’t trade Podz because he’s still under team control for several years. I would trade JK because he’s due for a massive extension and no way we extend him and Lauri unless we get rid of Wiggins and dray during the season. Let’s replace JK with the pick swaps and seconds. Moody/GP2/JK plus 2 FRPs in 26/28 for Lauri.
We then use the BAE to sign a player like Gary Trent and sign post to a roster spot to get to 14 players.

Will warriors trade Curry? No
Can Warriors tank with Curry? No
Do warriors have assets to compete for ‘ship with Curry? Also no.
Gonna be some treadmilling in 5-25 range and it’s ok.

Re: Current offer on the table for Lauri
Very much against most trades involving Podz-- think he's a gem and a winner within his role. If we could trade out Moody/Loon/GP2 and picks that's acceptable/best case for Lauri. Any more is an overpay and desperate seeming.
Once Curry is sailing into the sunset, a team with Markannen, Podz, Kuminga, and TJD is still really, really nice. Likable squad. That would be the "two timeline" concept working out. Bay Area will likely remain a strong free agent destination and we can rebuild that way imo.

Re: Current offer on the table for Lauri
The problem isn't so much the offer (which I think is a good one), but where meeting Ainge halfway is. That's going to be WAY too much, and that's even assuming you can meet him halfway, which they probably can't. Classic negotiation strategy, start your side at such an extreme position so the eventual compromise still lands squarely in your favor. It's hard to see the Warriors winning this deal no matter what.
If they're going to throw such insanity at Utah, why not go after someone else with those assets and a less shrewd negotiator on the other side. I imagine you could get another team to bite on a trade for far less than what Ainge is asking. Like Sengun in Houston for example.

That's a fantastic price and I doubt they would accept that. I'll buy their plane ticket if Ainge accepts that deal.

GSW is one Steph missed season away from the #2 pick. So, No.
If I thought Lauri would put them in contention I would. But I don't.

Re: Current offer on the table for Lauri
The other aspect to this is that then you have to sign him. You are committing to tying up a big chunk of the cap to him long term. He's going to command a max deal but I think a team that has him at that is not going to contend (unless they just get really luck in the draft, and this deal prevents getting lucky in the draft).

You have to overpay in assets to get him, then you have to overpay in cash/cap/tax to keep him. It's a doubly whammy.

Re: Current offer on the table for Lauri
Lol, any trade that gets you Lauri without giving up Kuminga AND Podziemski of course is a huge yes for the Warriors. I think it's probably unrealistic tho.
You need to try to win when Curry is still a Superstar, you can't keep him in the treadmil again, he doesn't deserve it and also it's not a smart move.
You already **** up enough with the two timeline BS, time to wake up.

You already had the #2 pick and you drafted a huge bust in Wiseman lol. Time to wake up man. After Curry is done in a few years, probably you are going to have to wait years maybe a decade to have another Superstar on your team.
Curry doesn't deserve this, you need to go all in.
Lauri is a good player for that price. You can still trade Kuminga/Podziemski for another established win now star for example. Lauri as a 3rd option would be great.

No. I don’t think the team left after this deal gets by the Lakers two years ago.
In fact, I don’t think adding Lauri to that roster for free gets them by LAL in 2023
