Nice to see everyone getting their shot back though. Just in time for when the schedule gets tough.

Sucks for him. Otoh I’m rapidly losing any faith that he actually improves our chances this season. I guess it depends how much you think he is an improvement over Gui.

TBH if JK is out a week or more he's probably not going to be in the playoff rotation.

Theoretically JK should be an improvement over Gui, but on the court in his short time back it wasn't a reality. JK was kind of starting to find his way on offense again. He wasn't dominating the action and letting the game come to him, but then his defense was a mess. Gui is just a better defender than JK is right now, and I'm not sure he's ever been a better defender than Gui.

That's the sad part, kid has no luck.

I disagree on the gui being a better defender. Gui is like the quintessential "dont mistake action for production" player. He hustles, rebounds, etc. but also loses his man all the time and gets blown by quite a bit. He's better off ball and navigating screens, worse on-ball and challenging shots. This would have been a great 'get-right' game for JK and if he saw the 3 start going in, his confidence would have grown exponentially. Instead, back to the IL.

JK has all the same issues as Gui, loses his man and gets blown by all the time, but none of the positives that Gui brings, hustles, rebounds, off ball awareness/rotations, navigating screens. I guess JK can challenge some shots if he's in the right position more than Gui can but it happens so infrequently that it's not a factor.

We can agree to disagree but, when given consistent run, JK doesn't foul, stays in front more often, challenges better at the POA, and can move people off their line and challenge at the rim. He gets lost off ball, can't get skinny around picks, and doesn't rotate well. Those are the things Gui does better than JK. On balance, I think it's a wash on defense (with maaaybe a slight edge to Gui due to the value of off-ball defense in our system). On offense, it's no competition and that's with Gui shooting lights out from 3 while JK struggles to hit the ocean from a boat.
