Below are the following trade scenarios:

Dubs trade Kuminga & TJD to Utah for Kessler along with Sexton or Clarkson, possible lesser pieces or draft compensation included.
Dubs trade Kuminga to Brooklyn for Cam Johnson & Keon-Johnson
Dubs trade Kuminga to New Orleans for Herb Jones and Kelly Olynyk
Dubs trade Kuminga & TJD to Cleveland for Allen and Okoro
Dubs trade Kuminga & TJD to Chicago for Vucevic & Ayo Dosunmu

The dubs best option might be to wait and see how draft trades or the start of free agency work out before making any deals. Anybody know the date when his RFA has to be signed?

Highly overrate kumingas value. We would need to send out multiple picks in every one of those trade scenarios except maybe the bulls one. I'd rather just let kuminga walk than use any post steph draft picks unless hes a game changer.

Yea no chance any of those happen without mortgaging our future

as always, Warriors are going to sell as low as possible on a black hole prospect

how many times are we going to do this?

Because Kuminga is subject to BYC restrictions in a sign-and-trade, that has to be taken into account. That means that his outgoing salary for the Warriors counts as 50% of his new salary, and his incoming salary for the team he goes to counts as 100%. That limits how much the Warriors can take back, of course. And Cleveland, being an Apron team, can't receive a player in an S&T.

It's always a possibility GS S&Ts Kuminga for a draft asset + filler to have more ammo to make a different trade. GS has some possibilities to combine some lesser salaries to get a/some player(s) they need to make the most of Curry's last 2 years. There's an older reliable scoring option out there for about 25 million that may not cost much to get... DeRozen, they also have Valančiūnas who makes around 10 mil, get enough helpful vets and you may not have to morgage the future. Try to get a player like Alec Burks for the minimum. These are older players that aren't great but I'll tell you one thing, having guys like this vs some of the players GS put on the floor possibly get them past Minnesota and at least get 1-2 more games vs the 4 straight they loss to get Curry back into the series. Once Curry's done, celebrate his last season and then rebuild/find that new franchise player.

One thing seems quite likely: MDJ is going to age a *lot* this offseason.

So Nets could just sign Kuminga in free agency for 30mln/year.

They could also use their cap space on other players and then S&T for Kuminga. They could go the OKC way where they take bad contracts into their cap space (where the team trading the player doesn't have to take salary back) for draft assets then make a trade for Kuminga. I think more teams should be doing this on their rebuilds, OKC was also able to showcase a few of those bad contract players and send them out and get even more assets like they did for CP3 and Horford.

Whatever they do, it's a near-certainty we get even older as a team, maybe by a lot. Not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, but it does come with even more risk.

Let me ask you cap guys this: what is the difference between sign & trade of Kuminga in the offseason, or signing him and holding him for a trade at the deadline during the season? Advantages? Disadvantages?

I think you need to find the right deal and give the team a full season. Less drama, less lineup experimenting, find a certain lineup in the off-season. Get us another 3&D starter.

I thinking there are nothing but bad options that the front office staff cornered themselves into.

The warriors extended Kuminga's qualifying offer just to make him a restricted free agent and give the team the ability to sign and trade him (or match another team's offer). Kuminga won't sign the QA, which is only for $7-million something.

If the Warriors didn't make the QO - or if they rescind it - Kuminga is an unrestricted free agent.

If I understand correctly then, if Warriors S&T Kuminga and his new first-year salary is $25 mil, they take back ~$12.5 mil in salary. Either aggregated or in a one player for one player deal?

I don't think the Warriors are going to get much to just facilitate Kuminga's new deal, but even a role player, a second round pick, a trade exception, etc. are better than having him walk for nothing or matching a big contract.

I didn't even think about all those cap scenarios. Damn, Dubs are even more limited than I thought.

We need a a center badly. Kumiga will be gone this off-season. We don't have many trade options so Dunleavy has to get this right. S/T Kumiga or move Green.

Quite right. In fact, if they take back more than 100% they are hard-capped at the 1st apron same as this year. But deals can still be made, it likely would involve multiple players and several teams much like the Klay S&T did.

But we reserve the right to match any offer the nets make. He's a restricted free agent. In that case they'd have to trade for him. We have his Bird rights.
