+1 Can I take everything I said bad about Steph Curry back. I knew the guy was a great offensive player, but I was too quick to judge, I'm a fool. I am back to being a Steph Curry lover.

The caliber of the defenses he's facing in most of the videos does not seem particularly high (wait until he has to try to get his shot off against Kobe). Heck, I think near 80% of the video is him shooting unguarded 3 ptrs. So what? I hope he's got more than what's shown in these videos, or this was a wasted pick.

It's pretty well known that Curry was far and away the best offensive option on his team. Opposing teams schemed and devoted multiple defenders to stop him. That's better than you can say for pretty much any other college player.

You must have an agenda if you think 80% of the vids was him shooting unguarded threes.

Why does everyone have an "agenda" if they say they're not impressed by collected "highlight" videos. Anyone who says those videos make the case that he's a lock in the NBA has got an agenda. Putz.

maybe "uninformed" is a better word... too many people worried about "agendas" on the board these days.

Shouldn't this board be more like an electronic versions of a bunch of sportsguys hanging around watching a game at a pub?? Sure we might vehemently disagree from time to time, but it doesn't mean that it goes deeper than a passion for the game.

a8bil,

Nellie and his pals watched every ENTIRE GAME footage their was on the kid. The kids dad played in the NBA and he knows what it takes to be a pro. He knows the kid and didn't rely on Youtube highlights to make his decision. He played PG his whole life until Davidson.

Nelli and guard draft picks are usually solid. I'd go with him on this one.

The guy was just expressing his opinion on the footage he saw, that's all. There is still some question if Curry's game can translate to the NBA and even though the homer in me is excited to have Curry I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

Just finished watching the Dav. St. Marys game. He seems to be as comfortable playing point as he is playing off the ball. Although he put up 20 or so shots, he played unselfishly, did not hesitate to pass the ball and found his own opportunities within the flow of the game.

He won't often blow by guys on the break, but in the half court he really knows how to use the threat of his outside shot to get by defenders. You can tell he's got some smarts and a solid feel for the game by watching the efficient moves he makes with the ball.

a8bil wrote:Were you not driven by agenda, you would have simply conceded that the highlight footage was not the best indicator of his skills and suggest that I hunt down video more game footage, like 5strong did. The videos 5strong posted do show more meaningful clips, as it shows more of him creating his own shots and putting the ball up in traffic. It was a direct (and persuasive) response to a valid question. Your response assumed I have an agenda against Curry (I don't) and just sniped at me because I expressed doubts about Curry based on the footage you offered. Maybe you can take some lessons from 5strong

Man. How could I concede that watching highlights isn't the best way to evaluate a player's skills when I never believed that was true, or said that was true in the first place. I see by your first post you might have assumed I was trying to push that idea, but look at my posts. I just posted links to videos I found and short descriptions.

Sometimes it's just fun to watch highlights. We are arguing over nothing really...

Mylie, I'ld generally agree to put my trust in Nellie, but I don't know what to make of Nellie any more... . Is all his talk about Curry true praise, or a smoke screen in the discussions with the Suns? I can imagine that Curry was the BPA, but in a bad draft, does that mean he is a game changer or Bobby Hurley? So confusing this year, and particularly confusing in the context of whether we include Curry in a package to land a known commodity.

Just don't know. Maybee I need to take a break from the trade watch...

yeah all this agenda talk actually has me afraid to go into actual sports bars... the Warriors might have some employee lurking around that might try and convince me that Bobby Rowell is a genius basketball mind.

Subaculta, I agree completely...way too many opinions here (RGM) are met with attacks. Not saying I'm blame free, but it would be nice just to exchange opinions.

Andy, I DID think you were a Curry proponent. I DIDN'T think the videos you posted made the case, that's all. You can see from my original post that I conceded that Curry may still be the player you think he is, I just didn't see it from the videos you posted. 5strong did post some interesting footage, which makes a case for him being a pretty effective offensive weapon.

So, what do you think of a Monta/Curry backcourt? They both seem like efficient scorers. If Monta has the slash and a 15' jumper and Curry has the 3 pts range, I can see them being a lethal one-two punch offensively. Defense is where I have greater concern. Here, I'm less concerned about their height than I am about their build. Both are pretty slight and could get manhandled. With the popularity of iso's in the NBA, they could be abused pretty easily it seems. What do you think?

Thanks for posting the videos...rad.

I'm really glad he's a Warrior. Its really exciting to think about Curry, Morrow, Monta, and Randolph on the court together. And then throw in AB/? and that is a solid squad. Can't wait for the season to start now.

Don't forget his doctor said he's still growing. If he gets to 6'5 he really does have the best PG skills out of all the tall guys in this draft except for Rubio. He needs to add weight but he'd be the perfect guy next to Monta.

Andy, you're getting no love... . :sigh: If Curry does continue to grow, he could turn out to be the steal of the draft. If he doesn't what's his upside? BJ Armstrong or AI or ?

He has more talent than BJ had. AI was faster but not too efficient (and smaller). Maybe more like Sleepy Floyd?
