Exactly. All the whining and pearl-clutching over "can't fit with Draymond", "can't fit with Kerr's offense", "can't play with Steph", "we can't lose Wiggins", "we can't lose Draymond", "what about the future?"...wake up people, this is a mediocre team going nowhere. Steph is still great on some nights, but he can't give those kinds of performances 3 or 4 out of 5 games anymore. That's only going to get worse.
Jimmy Butler is a flawed player and I wouldn't give up the farm for him, but he'd easily be at worst the second best offensive player on this team and maybe even the best on some nights. Everyone worried about him because he's a "half court player"...guess what, most possessions end up in a half-court game and that's where the Dubs really struggle to score much of the time. And it's not like Jimmy's a slouch in the transition game anyway.
Ohhhh the motion offense is so great...if so then why can't we score? A lot of you guys seem to think it's because we just don't have the perfect players we need in order to be a cog in Kerr's machine. F that, Kerr's offense was great with prime Steph, prime Klay, and prime KD, but those days are long gone. It's an outdated system that only works with incredibly narrow parameters, plus the league has adjusted since those days when it was new and no one knew how to counter it.
Jimmy can just go get a damn bucket for us instead of waiting for the perfect alignment of Kerr's delicate system to create an open 3 point shot (which they've largely been missing this year anyway). And he helps keep the other team honest and from overloading on Steph. The heavy reliance on the motion offense also creates more turnovers, which has been a thorn in the side of the team since it was implemented. I'm not saying don't pass the ball, but how many times have we seen this team try to keep moving the ball but either not even get a shot off in time, take a poor, contested 3 instead of taking it inside or drawing contact and getting to the line, or turn it over? A LOT. And it's not just the young guys that happens to, it's everyone on the team including Steph and Draymond.
It remains to be seen what the asking price truly is, and whether it would be worth it, but it's worth exploring.
