I would rather face OKC first than Denver. Denver is just a bad matchup for us out of all the western playoff teams.
Don't think so now with Butler and the team close to full strength.
Not sure if you watched the Denver game without Murray / Jokic but Denver just have our numbers whereas we have OKC’s numbers. Skilled, experienced, and elite bigs are Warriors’ weakness. This is the reason why we couldn’t beat the Lakers in the playoffs / playins when they had AD on their team. We can def take advantage of Chef and Hartenstein in the playoffs due to their inexperience.
That Denver game was...
1. GS did not play as serious with 3 Denver starters out and got beat bad.
2. No real gameplan how to stop Denver with how they'd play without the 3 starters (like what to take away).
3. Golden State was very sloppy with the ball and low energy. Not only did it hurt them on offense with less shots but allowing Denver to just grab a rebound or TOV which allowed Denver to get down court much quicker hurt their defense.
I'd like to see the defensive dynamic of Draymond on Jovic and Butler in help defense but yes, Denver at full strength in the playoffs is probably a top 2 team in the west.
The Lakers will be an interesting matchup if it happens because of the Draymond/Butler duo on defense also. Having Draymond or Butler (probably Butler) looking to help will be interesting. With Draymond on one of Doncic or LeBron, Moody, can GS have someone play good enough defense on the other (Moody or GP2 when needed) to allow Butler a chance to roam a bit to cover up some mistakes? Really interested in how Kerr decides to defend them which will dictate the starting lineup.
So much was talked about Butler on offense, but his BBIQ on defensive as a help defender was slept on and how he can take away some passing lanes, especially when he's teaming up with such a great defender in Draymond.
