How were the Warriors going to PAY these "top end FA"?

I'm talking about the top budget ones. That's why it would have been great to make the playoffs and see where it takes the team.

Noone wants to join losers.

No one wants to be a placeholder either, which probably factors in a lot more than you're giving credit. "Ring chasers" are guys who take less money to go for a ring, not ones who typically take very unstable roles on a team. Not like we got top-end players before (wounded Cousins, Nick Young, end of the road JON & West, Speights, etc etc)

We need someone who wants to take most of the regular season off and jump in sporadically when needed. Then ramp up at the end of the year for a playoff run. Iguodala and millsap fits that to a t

Warriors have zero chance with West this summer compared to that season. Batum not choosing the Warriors over a Clipper team that is missing its best player for the season (most likely) is quite telling.

no need to panic, there are still some names out there, we might get a bargain by waiting it out if that's what we're doing

Dedmon looked pretty good but he's basically Whiteside.. when he's at the end of his rope, he can put it together just long enough for you to pay him. If Heat are smart, and based on their other moves, meh, it'll be a one year deal for Dedmon at best.

Drummond is very interesting since he has no birds (no S&T) and needs to rehab his value, and would actually do well in the McGee role here. He'd probably be an opening night starter too, and have little teammate competition for rebounds. If he's willing to do 1/5.8, that'd be a coup

not really, Batum is still 32 and is probably still vying for his next 'big' contract, he'll get way more minutes with the Clips most likely, easy decision for him.

Its quite telling that we have Poole and drafted Moody/Kuminga. Meaning if those guys prove they deserve minutes, he's hitting the bench. In LAC there's no legit threat to his role, whereas here, the plan would be that his role is eventually phased out. If you can't acknowledge that you're just mad to be mad

It's not about winning/losing last year. Ring chasers want to join a team where they can have a clear impact AND win. The Warriors can't really offer that impact opportunity at any position other than center, but even at center they will know that they will be 1 of 3 main centers on the team and that none of them will likely finish games because that's often Green.

Add to that that players know the Warriors don't focus on one player and play a system that is different than most play, it sets it up so that players have to do extra work to show less.

The Warriors offer is to be a member of a team not a star in a show, and that's a more esoteric sales job.

Still can't believe Bazemore went to the darkside.

Will be much sweeter winning the title with no stinkin free agents anyway.
