Yeah, but in the interim, the Warriors are blocked from making any moves above the vet minimum while the JK situation remains unresolved.

If I was JK I would just take whatever warriors is offering him. It’s likely more than what he can get on the market.

They're prevented from going into the non-tax mle but they can't do that anyway, unless they lose him for nothing.
It really sounds like they're waiting for the horford situation to resolve before giving jk whatever is left under the 2nd apron.
Getting him at 20-25 may be more than the current market but it'll still be tradeable unless he has a disastrous start next season. They just need the matching contract, as there's no one other than dray above 11m.

No, he'll probably take the year off or best case, just in time for the playoffs.

Yeah so I don’t even get why we’d be talking to him at this point. Seems beyond pointless.

If JK accepts the QO at $8m we can use the NTMLE. I guess we can just sit out this free agent class. Most of the good free agents are now gone anyways.
This summer is going to be uneventful for the warriors unless we make trades.

After his stretch, he might come here for the min and, if so, what's the downside?

Yeah, if you can get one of the best 3-point shooters of all time for cheap, you take it regardless of health. They wouldn't need Dame for most of the regular season and it's not like he's taking a roster spot away from some incredible player anyway. They might struggle to make the playoffs in any case, but if they do and can add a well-rested Lillard before heading in, that's the ultimate X-factor, I don't think many teams relish facing Steph, Lillard, Buddy, Jimmy, and Draymond. If they can somehow turn Kuminga into Coby White, so much the better, but in the meantime, JK can create havoc with that lineup because of the spacing.

Maybe that’s why Slater mentions the Kuminga cap hold?

Because the Warriors are on a two-year window.
And if he comes back for some part of the playoffs… coulda used him vs. T-Wolves, no?
Small price, chance to get him under Warriors medical staff. High upside, little downside.

With Kuminga's $22M cap hold the Warriors are about $110M over the cap. Without it they are $88M over the cap. So, no, the cap hold means nothing. And the Warriors can always use the $5.7M TPMLE regardless of the JK situation. All that would do is hard-cap them at the 2nd Apron, which they aren't going to approach anyway.

I guess he can go the Patrick McCaw route and sit out. A case of ego being way bigger than his basketball talent.

It would be an interesting hail mary if we didn't have to give up much to do it.... hope current crew gets it done this year, if not we have an outside shot that an 80% Dame Lillard comes off the bench in 2 years for one final death march.
