I think Nellie left CJ in to find out if he's a keeper for the rest of the year. While I don't think that he lost us the game, I'm not sure he made the cut. 510 is right he was late on a few rotations and Telfair blew right around him on a layup. On the offensive end he was pretty passive in the 4th and that probably bothered Nellie more than me. On the plus side: he hit his free throws, stole a ball that was almost a gimme, closed-out well on a Jaric leaner and something else that I'm forgetting right now.
Overall, it might be close but I'm going to guess that he's gone.

If we had CJ inked for a potential 3 years, I'd like him... he shows flashes of understanding. He made a dish pass to Barnes who was running hot that made me proud of him...
Of course it waned throughout the game... his inability to recognize when his teammates need help and just coming way too late is huge...

Fronting agile guys who have good hands is a bad strategy (especially when the guys helping on the backside is Bukie.) The front/distrup works against slowish/kess agile bigs because you can get help there before they can gather themself after the catch and you can deny the shot and give them trouble passing out. Gomes/Jeff can both catch while moving and get shots up without ever having to really consider the help defender (if Bukie ever gets there.)
But all that aside, against certain teams you concede certain things. You can't defend everything effectively. The defense didn't lose this game Gomes just got a bunch of points that other wolves didn't get. They had 7 bench points overall. We should be able to win a 110 point game any day of the week.
We lost this game because the guys who took all the shots shot terrible.
Baron 5-14
Jack 5-13
Al 3-12
Monta and Barnes carried us to make this look closer than it was, but 3 of our 5 starters put up a royal stinkjob tonight. Can't expect to win that way no matter what the D does.

We had a D-leaguer in at crunch time
GS played terrible, and MIN played pretty good... thus the result.

I coulda swore I just said MIN played well... are you really trying to pick a fight on the W's board right now?
BTW, what does whether or not I like think the players on your team are good or not have anything to do with 2 years from now?
You're happy for your win... I dunno if I would be as a MIN fan, I'd personally want the pick, but thats just me..

nah minny has a great future, imo...it's not evident right now but they have some nice players. their inexperience shows though, and they played VERY well while the warriors played terrible..which is why they won. it took a great game from Gomes and a bunch of other Wolves with good shooting nights to beat us.

I fully agree. But given the circumstances of the Western conference standings right now, we needed to win that game. Could come back to haunt us.

With who? Foye's a talent... so is Al Jeff (though he still has a lot to learn defensively) then who? Brewer has not played anything past good defense, and he's a liability offensively... Gomes is a solid player without a position, he'll take a team like ours down though...
Other than that, where's the great future? With McFail in charge, a lot will depend on where that pick gets invested for 2008...
Portland has a great future...

Wow....I just saw the first half and Jackson was not just bad..he was HORRIBLE. He kept missing...turning it over...getting abused....
And Harrington...what's with the catching the Pietrusitas? Lately he's been doing the dumbest things....out of control....
Anyway....Warriors style is to fly up and down all game and outscore folkes....There is very little boxing out....very little defending at the rim....and while they are exciting....that style let's teams like the Wolves play street ball and have a chance.
Nelson has a bad habbit of putting everything he has on small ball. The fact is you don't score as much with big ball...but you also don't give up rebounds all night....

Rebounding was 45 to 46. I guess you could say we were outrebounded by two if you don't count Al's missed putback on the last play.
We lost this game because our two best players had crappy nights.

Minny obviously played a very good game, but if both of these teams play well it shouldn't be close. I think all the missed layups really hurt, especially the potential and1's.
As for Minny's future, I gotta agree with 510:
Al is a good 4 but not an all-star.
I like Foye more than Al, but I don't think he's a PG although he could become one.
Gomes and Smith are both good 6th, 7th, 8th types.
McCants is a decent back-up SG.
I think they'd be lucky to get one quality player out of the rest of them.
Toine, Madsen, Buckner, Jaric, Ratliff and Doleac are all dead contracts tying up the cap to varying degrees.
Telfair can't shoot.
Green is a goner.
Richard, meh.
And then there's Brewer, who I still can't believe was a lotto pick. His athleticism is overrated, he's not a good ball-handler and it's pretty obvious he can't shoot (I don't care if it's because they're reworking his shot, that's a red flag right there). But hey, at least they didn't take Hawes. They should of taken Noah.
