Re: Free Agent Talk
It's possible the Oubre fiasco soured the team on paying tax on marginal players so I wouldn't be surprised if there is no use of MMLE.
I think Paschall is moved as well.
Rotation: Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Dray, Looney, Poole, OPJ, JTA
Youth: Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody
Vet: Bjelica, Lee
That is 13.
Mannion on 2-way
Probably only keep 14.
Jessup, Mulder, Payton battling for last spot. There is a possibility another vet signs for minimum meaning none of these guys are on the roster. There is an even smaller possibility a vet signs and one of these guys balls out and we keep 15.

I think I recall Myers effectively implying they werent going to use it in an interview. Which is fine, he's doing fine without it IMO. Not perfect (RoLo, for example) but pretty damn good.

I disagree. If Patty Mills turns them down, the market is drying up pretty quick. Who's left? Danny Green and Andre Iguodala?
RoLo would've been a solid veteran starting 5 for the Warriors.tal57 wrote:I am practically certain now, more than likely TPMLE will not be used, and there may have been no intent to used it. Possibly not offered to Batum and Mills.
There is absolutely no reason for spending 30 mil per year on the backup player. Lacob may have been spending like drunken sailor on the light years ahead team, not on the team considered in the middle of the playoff seeding. The only signing(s) I see now are the team need and fit who agree to the vet min deal. Basically the choices are possibly one or two of the Iggy, Hill, Chriss in that order.
I still believe Iggy is certainly in play and they want him if he'll take vet min. I think he is looking for more and will take time until he is certain he will not get anything more from the teams he is comfortable to join.
Fans may be dreaming of getting Ingles or S&T for Oubre, I'll be extremely surprised if any of that would happen.
The Warriors seem to have been much more cost conscious this off season because of their status as repeat luxury tax payers. Using the TMLE would have added an additional $31 million in salary and luxury taxes for this season alone. On the other hand the NBA pays part of the salary for veteran players signed to minimum contracts which saves the Warriors some salary and tax money.
Oh, I've fully realized that. Especially how Lacob was financially burned with Oubre signing last year. Cost him what, 80 mil or so and for what? Especially when Klay is the entire key no matter who you bring, TPMLE or vet min.

I wonder if there is a rule against a coach resigning as a player. There seems like there should be. But could they hire Iggy as a coach with the intention of him actually being a coach. But if there were a bunch of injuries could he be signed as a player later?

They have another 2 way spot so there is likely another addition there from SL but it won't be anyone listed in my previous post.

Re: Free Agent Talk
One thing about the RoLo signing in ORL:
They have Wendell Carter Jr, Mo Bamba, and Robin Lopez who are all pure Cs. Why would RoLo sign there if he wasn't guaranteed a role? And if he was guaranteed a role... one of the other 2 must be picking up scraps. Might be a good time to see how available Mo Bamba is

Didn't they talk about that possibility with Barbosa last year?

Ownership is so cheap. Won't even use the MLE let alone S+T Oubre.

Too expensive unless part of some bigger trade.
