He's chasing another ring. Unfortunately the Lakers and Nets are odds on to make the Finals this upcoming season.

Of the 3, I'd be the most surprised (and elated) if he chose the Warriors.
In 1971, the team moved across the Bay Area to Oakland, and changed its geographic name to Golden State to symbolize the team as representative of the entire state of California

No way he could get more than the min from the warriors. Unless they want to add $25-30MM to their tax bill. Who knows, maybe they don't care.

I like Iggy, but his best years are behind him. He didn't look like the same player while playing with Miami. Don't know if it was the system or the coaching, but he just didn't look the same to me.

Kelly Oubre Jr. is in discussions with the Charlotte Hornets.

Not sure what the Hornets cap situation is and if there could be any S&T involved.

Iggy does have a home in WC, and I think that will be an incentive to come back to the bay.

Baynes would be fine. The more I look at the roster I do think one more primary ball handler is more a need.

What do you guys think, lumbar or pg?

I am hoping team AARP takes Iggy. I want to see 6 players available in the playoffs.

Definitely still need a vet 1 to run that second unit but who will that be? I don’t see anyone left that fills the bill.

Not sure if either of them would come, but either Reggie Jackson or Schroeder could both run the second unit.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Due to his time in the league, Iguodala’s vet minimum is about $2.5M; however, only $1.6M of that would count against the cap and for tax purposes, and the total bill (with the tax) would be about $9M.

But if we sign him for more than that minimum (i.e. using up some of the TP MLE), the entire amount counts against the cap and is taxed. So, for example, if we offer him $4M, the total amount including tax is about $20M. So Andre makes $1.5M more than the minimum, but it costs the Warriors $11M more. So I really doubt the Warriors want to go above the minimum for him. (Plus, if we go above the minimum and into the TP MLE, it means there’s almost nothing left in the TP MLE to get anybody else.)

I would take Baynes with the minimum. Baynes struggled last year but he shot well the year before and has always been a guy who can pass and screen. He’s a big body and would probably do well here.

I think they are betting hard that there is going to be a huge jump in the cap ... and they may be right, because if not there is going to be a hard adjustment for free agents in the next couple years.

The NBA is trying to get a new TV deal which is worth 3X what the current deal is.

But even if they get it, it wouldn't start until the 2025-26 season. That means the Warriors core will probably be retired by then.

Yeah, I was talking about the league in general, not just the Warriors. I don't think they can get 3x the money from the shrinking TV base. If the NBA re-does their streaming deal they might make more, but I'd be surprised if it's much larger than the current deal.

Yeah, but last year he looked totally washed. He may not get more than a camp invite anywhere in the league.

Looks like Oubre is signing with the hornets on a multi year deal worth over $12 million per year

I get that Iggy is gonna try to make it “hurt” negotiating with us getting a bigger bag, but Lacob has made it pretty clear he’s not going to sign off on more than vet min unless it was someone worthwhile of the tax. Go ring-chase with LAL/BKN, Iggs.
