Unfortunately we are still the Lakers' bitch. No matter how badly they're playing, they smile when they see the Warriors on the schedule.

2008 0-4
2009 0-4
2010 1-3
2011 0-4
2012 0-1

5 year total vs. Lakers: 1-16, or .063 winning %.

Both Jordan Hill and Jodie Meeks have taken more shots than D Howard in another loss against the Jazz

Following Ibaka's physical altercation with Metta World Peace in Friday night's Thunder win over the Los Angeles Lakers, Jackson posted on his verified account: "Somebody tell serg Abaka. He aint bout dis life. Next time he run up on me im goin in his mouth. That's a promise. He doin 2 much."

Maybe Dwight will leave. I would contact his agent ASAP and ask him if he's interested in leaving the Lakers. If so, there's only a couple of teams right now who can afford him in Dallas and Atlanta. If he's open to leaving, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to dump Bogut and Biedrins/Jefferson for an expiring to make a run at Dwight.

wow...just read the Lakers loss thread...one poster "shocked that we are 9-12". Must be nice to have a team like that for the last 20 or 30 years....lol.

Lakers blew it with making the move to get Dwight regardless of how thin they were on the bench....Then they REALLY screwed it by bringing on Dantoni...ouch. Take a older team...no bench...whose main strength is low post size...and turn them over to a coach that makes Nelson look like a slow down and grind it out coach.

If I'm the Lakers I try and blow this up quickly...move whatever they can for young talent and draft picks...Kobe has only two more years at most....Dwight is not coming back and Paul must Fing hate Kobe and the Lakers at this point....

Trade Nash to Toronto for draft picks...
Trade Dwight for the the same....
Tell Kobe you are rebuilding and see if he wants a trade or wants to retire as a Laker...

Too much talent for the Lakers to throw the towel in so early in the season. It makes me happy, but I don't think it's going to last much longer.

Perhaps....but even if they make the playoffs this year and get bounced early....The team is not likely to be much better (if not worse) next year. Dwight likely to leave....I just think that this is the time to re-shape and re-load the Lakers... Celtics are in the same boat....I think both teams will find themself on a slow decline with nothing but older players with no value.

I agree that the Lakers, Celtics need to rebuild and that goes for the Mavs as well.

I think the Lakers with Dwight, have someone to build around. I don't see him leaving the Lakers, though hiring Dantoni leaves question marks on what they were thinking. This is still a very dangerous team when they get things firing on all cylinders and Nash is the key to making it all fit together.

Mavs? They are a big FA player next year. What is this rebuilding thing you talking about?

As for Dwight staying with LAL. Dwight has shown to be so stupid, who knows what he is going to do. He might just walk since LAL salary cap nightmare will make Orlando's problem look like Mickey Mouse. Dwight could end up in Dallas or Atlanta with a franchise in better condition than LAL.

Celts. I see them able to rebuild quickly if they are willing to barter off Garnett and Pierce for picks.

Dallas is in a tough spot. They have nice capspace next year, but doubt they can build a contender around Dirk again. It took a long time to get the right complimentary pieces around him. Chandler next to Dirk >>>Kaman next to him. They SHOULD trade Dirk and rebuild the right way rather than try to overpay in FA for someone, but I don't think Dirk wants that (he could go the Nash rout though where he says he doesn't want to but eventually the team tells him that it's in both of their best interests).

Unless Dwight doesn't resign (I think he will) Lakers are already in a spot to reload in 2014 when Pau and Kobe's contracts come off the books. Nash will probably retire by then anyways. They can't trade Kobe and I doubt Gasol gets them any high picks or good young prospects unless you consider the likes of Derrick Williams good young prospects.

Celtics should strongly consider this move with Pierce. I think they should trade Pierce and probably Terry for cap space and picks. Try to sign Josh Smith to play alongside Rondo as they need to keep him happy and need a scoring mate for Rondo. KG probably has the most value, but can also help them win now if they could make some kind of power shifting trade.

If they could get the cap space to sign him alongside Rondo and a good efficient scorer to play with them they had the start of a good team. They would have good defense, just need some good shooters.

Just having a lot of cap space doesn't mean much, unless you can bring in the talent. Mavs want to add two players to their team that are better than Dirk and younger than Dirk. That was Dwight and Deron, but they have lost out on Williams. Now they hope to lure Dwight to Dallas and I don't know if that is going to happen. I would be surprised to see Dirk play more than a couple of years, especially if he has nagging injuries.

I don't know if Dwight would walk away from the money he can make with the Lakers. Kobe isn't going to be there that much longer...he might just suck it up.

Celtics will have a hard time moving Garnett and the will probably just ride it out with Pierce for another season.

Having cap space buy flexibility.

Wolves got some decent players for free with their cap. Phoenix is paying Scola pennies with their cap via amesty. Are you saying you did not want Scola for what Phoenix paid him?

Mavs strucked out on FA, but imagine if they did not bid on Brand and landed Scola instead. GSW would have to worry even more for that 1-2 playoff spots left.

Cap space is very critical with rebuilding teams now. With teams in cap hell from the new CBA lux tax, it has been fun. And I am not even talking about paying, they are restricted even more with signing FA with their MLE.

According to Cuban, he thinks a lot of teams are ignoring the realities of the new CBA and how crippling the luxury tax is going to be on them. He also feels there will be players made available because of teams doing their best to get under the luxury tax after being over it for a couple of years in a row. There is already talk that Miami may break up the trio. I would assume it would be Bosh, but who knows, but having cap space to be able to absorb such a player's salary can't be a bad thing.

+1

Cuban made off this season with RENT-A-TEAM strategy after losing out on FA signing. Dallas is still a potential playoff team without Dirk, with just rentals.

I say he knows what he is doing.

Pretty solid post, although I don't see why Toronto would trade for Nash when they have Lowry and Calderon. Yes I know he's Canadian. But yeah I got to think Pau hates Kobe too. I mean shouldn't someone like Kobe take some responsibility? Was shocked when he blamed Pau in Thunder series last year, bc Kobe lost most of those games by himself, hogging the ball, and taking bad shots as per usual. Oh and where has his defense gone the last few years????!!!! such a joke that he made all defensive team.
