Josh Smith at the 4 instead of Lee would be pretty sweet, I think that would actually elevate us to the next level. We have a ton of scoring and need a 4 who can D up, board and stay away from the low block when Landry/Bogut are in the game. That sounds a lot like Smith.

^ I totally agree. We need some more athleticism on this team for sure. If we can convince Josh Smith to only post up or shoot corner 3's (no midrange J's), i think this team becomes top 4 in the conference at least. Our defense could be amazing with Bogut and Smith.

Josh Smith is a guy who takes a ton of bad shots....and he values himself as a max contract guy.....I think he'd help us a lot, but way to overpriced.

His value has taken such a hit the past couple years that I would be very surprised if anyone offered him the max. Would you want him if he had Lee's deal? That's what it kinda comes down to.

^ Absolutely. The only problem is he wants a max deal...yea, he takes bad shots, but there was a year where he really cut down on long 2's and mostly focused on finishing around the rim. It shows he's somewhat coachable, and I like his chances to change his offensive philosophy once he gets a legit team around him. His D would be priceless on this team. But I'm trying to think of ways we could get him, and honestly I don't really see many ways we could.

I'm scared of Smith now. A year ago he had a strong season. This year his team doesn't defend any better when he's on the court, and they actually rebound worse when he's on the court.

I think we missed the window of when Smith is very good, and whoever has him next is going to find themselves with a huge contract player who is merely average or slightly above average. And on the downside of their career as the contract progresses.

I have a question that's related to what kind of trade the warriors pursue, or could affect whether or not they pursue one at all.

How hard will the owners try to avoid the tax this year?

I get the feeling they'll do whatever they can to avoid it. Which means, assuming Rush opts in and Landry opts out, that we can't re-sign Jack unless a trade is made that dumps 6-7 mil of salary, right? If that's the case, a Lee tree makes a lot more sense. If its not, then trading him for lesser value + cap savings isn't as ineteresting.

I don't see Lacob paying the lux tax under any circumstances. I'm hoping we go to the WCF, not only because I'm a fan, but then we'll get to see if I'm right about his lux tax policy. If you get toe the WCF but aren't willing to pay the tax to improve the team, then you just aren't willing to pay the tax at all.

I don't mean this as a criticism of Lacob, btw.

Josh Smith's +/- numbers seem to favor him slightly. Not sure why his impact isn't bigger, but he was solid the year before. But yes the Hawks are rebounding better with him off the court and that is a problem. I would rather have Horford.

I was thinking of DLee for Cleveland's #19. Clear out DLee's contract for 2014 run. And sign David West for 1 year. I rather have West than DLee. He can shoot outside, play in the post, and D up.

If West not coming. Do a Caveman for 1 year (similar to Dallas) and play twin tower. Get two rim defenders and get all the rebounds for Barnes, Curry, Thompson.

what about D. Lee for AK47 if he opts in is a expiring and Ridnour who could be fliped do third team if JJ re-signs? Making it a three way because wolves have Love.

No on Ak47. Since I think we have a low chance of getting a LBJ or Bosh. I would take a bad contract for 2yrs. To make land two lottery picks two different trades if possible.

I think even in short term AK47 would be huge upgrade on defensive end and his offense isn't great but he is capable scorer when left wide open. And imagine defense of Bogut and AK47 :)

I like Deng so that you could use him as a stretch 4 and Barnes at the 3 and Klay at the 2 when we go smallball.

Problem with Kirilenko is that he's an injury risk and 32 years old. You're getting someone who'll miss about 1/4 of the season due to some kind of injury. He was starting on the TWolves due to their injuries, and at this point in his career, I would rather have him as a reserve. He would great off the bench to provide defense.

I'm a big Ivan fan, but I see him as a Landry replacement, not Lee.

Agree that he will propably miss some time with injuries but he was starting on wolves because he is starting caliber player not because of injuries. The thing I like the most - we have enough firepower and AK is a guy who does a lil things to get a win. He still is really disruptive and with active hands and great defensive instincts, not a guy he used to be but still. :)
