They could easily sign Lance, Deng or Monroe for that money.

I think the quota for rapists per team is 1, so no way they acquire Stephenson.

Interesting. Examples or link?

The main one I heard is the 15% trade kicker, making it difficult to trade Parsons down the line.

Yep. Bosh to Houston would have been tough for the Warriors, glad and surprised he stayed East.

With Parsons not available to be traded to Minnesota, their only ways of getting Love are:
1) Trading the limited small assets they have (Jones, Beverley, DoMo) and low 1st round picks to Minnesota; leaves Minny cap room..... Or
2) Go crazy and include either Harden of Howard in the trade.

I'd be shocked if Minnesota was interested in #1, and equally shocked if Houston was willing to do #2.

Morey out-thought himself in letting Parsons become an RFA this off-season, and they lost out on a chance for Love when Dallas signed him to the offer sheet.

If Wade leaves Miami what are they going to do in signings. Likely they'll quickly call and throw money at the likes of Monroe and Bledsloe and that isn't a bad idea. Monroe next to Bosh might go well and Bledsloe could be Wade like to a lesser extent. Deng is another one they might call. Heck, if they can sign those three each to an average of no more than 14 million, unlikely for Monroe at least, they could have all three next to Bosh. That is actually a better idea than resigning Wade and eating up at least 12 million a year.

I'm not surprised at all that Bosh stayed east. His only chance of remaining an All-star was by staying east...

Some rockets fans were saying trade kickers are pretty much a deal breaker for Morey. He has never drafted a contract for his players with one or acquired a player with one although he almost acquired Gasol a few years ago who had one I believe. The contract is only 2 years with a team option in the third though so it's not a terrible one but ties up the Rockets flexibility and Morey loves to wheel and deal

Chalmers at $4mm a year is the funniest thing of the week.

Rudy Gay is probably more of a natural basketball talent than Wiggins and maybe even a better athlete ... He definitely came in with more skill.

Wiggins though seems like he is more willing to do the little things though.

For all you Morey cock-riders:

The Rockets could have picked up their team option on Parsons at under $1 million, but they declined it in order for him to become a restricted free agent this offseason instead of an unrestricted free agent in 2015.

They could have kept him for $1 mill if they picked up his TO...FFS come on that's AWFUL GMing.

Parsons said it was because Morey wanted to allow Parsons to go ahead and get paid, which is why the Rockets opted out.

Not directed at you, but I think it's hillarious how many people are critisizing Morey for not matching Parsons, instead of lamenting at what a complete bumbling idiot Cuban is for giving a 25 year old best-case 3rd option a mini-max deal.

Dirk has 2 years left before he hangs it up. They weren't going to get any stars next to him, so this is the closest they got - and he's an expiring rather quickly if things don't work out. Bad deal, but you need to anticipate somebody will offer your guy something ridiculous. Morey didn't.

As a GM, why should you be concerned about helping your players "get paid"? This was a misstep by Morey. If that was really his goal then he should have accepted that $1 mill tender and negotiated an extension come mid-season.

I bet Cuban did that just to **** with Morey.

Read this article from the GB with a pretty good breakdown of the Cult of Morey.

https://medium.com/the-cauldron/the-man ... f16d8b754a

I think he's definitely a smart guy, he's had a lot of pretty good players in his time as Rox GM, however he's also let a lot of talent slip away only to replace it with a highly paid comparable (or less) player. Prime examples being trading Lowry, letting Dragic walk to sign Jeremy Lin. Lin has been solid, but Lowry and Dragic just put up top 10 offensive seasons last year. The next example being allowing Parsons to test FA a year earlier than they had to and striking out in the top FA to settle for Trevor Ariza. Another former Rox, just like Lin was.

I like how he swings all out for HR's, but I think he's equally praised when it's not necessary. Or maybe he just receives the benefit of the doubt because he's THE proponent for advanced statistics being applied to help interpret the game of basketball. The usage of this still doesn't make him infallable to making a wrong move every now and then.
