Haven't seen all that much of Grant. But I don't think he is a huge upgrade over Oubre when you exclude the first 10 games to get used to the team and into some groove. At least not that much of an upgrade that I'd be willing to attach the Minnesota pick.

Oubre still jams us up on offense and defense with his lack of BBIQ.. everyone who wants to keep him needs to line up in a single file line so I can just smack the hell out of the first one and let all of your empty heads clang together like coconuts

What team can compete with a death lineup of Steph/Klay/Wiggins/Grant/Draymond. Our bench, excluding Wiseman, will also still have the MLE, Looney, Paschall, etc.
Why would we do that deal? Grant is getting 19mil this year, was a 2nd round pick with this year being the only prime year he has had. We don't improve rebounding. You would trade a lottery pick, Oubre, and more for Grant? What would it take to get Giannis, both splash bros??? I would do a grant straight up for Oubs, but the pick is pretty much worthless to you in that scenario
To be clear, I wouldn’t do the deal that was mentioned, but find it hilarious that one of the justifications suggested here is because Grant “was a 2nd round pick”.
Um, Draymond was a 2nd round pick. Hell, van Vleet went undrafted.
Where somebody was drafted becomes meaningless at a certain point......
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

I have no problem with trading him for some nice piece to round out the roster. Just wondering if Grant is all that. Not sure how being the go-to guy on the worst team in the league (and his first significant season at the age of 27) is preparing you to be a better cog in the machine for GSW.

I agree with you there. Grant has not shown to be enough of a willing passer/defender IMO. He seems like a half-measure of trying to win, if he's one of the first options we look at

Jokic was a 2nd round pick too. It was more to compare college evaluations much like how we got Wiggins who was the 1st pick. 2nd round picks are fine, i just tend to place a ceiling on players drafted lower. Personal choice. Like David Lee, he maxed out his potential to production as a late 1st round pick and to a point i said he was who he was on defense cuz of where he was drafted. People are going to look at DLo and see talented dude who was the 2nd pick. Where we are related to cap space we either have to hit on late and 2nd round picks or bring in high lottery picks who didn't work out- like Julius Randle with Knicks

I think you misread Detroit. They like the young part of their team, and getting rid of Rose & Blake was part of the push to get the younger guys more playing time.killmongrel wrote:I have no idea. With that said, my logic of why Detroit does this is that they want assets. Grant does not fit their timeline in any way. He's locked in for two more years after this season, but like I said, Detroit has no direction at the moment. So if they can get another lottery pick in a loaded draft, as well as be able to try out Oubre who is younger, they may be interested. I'd even throw in Paschall to just really push the deal.
Right now, they think Grant does fit in their timeline. You are right, two years left on his contract will go really fast, and late next year they could have a change of heart. But I don't think they'd do this now.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Re: Trade Oubre PRONTO.
Oubre is not worth his contract, i dont mind picking him up cheap but for his price...nah
we need better offense anyway, Curry/Klay/Wiggins/Green....i dont see a big difference between Looney/Oubre/Baze/JTA to fill up the last roster

I have completely fallen in love with Oubre's game. He's far and away our most dynamic, gifted and explosive athlete and I consider him irreplaceable. He and Steph have developed an on-court chemistry that is a joy to watch and the reason why he's no longer playing most of his minutes with the second unit. And Kerr recognizes it because he's so goddamn smart and understands this team and the personnel so much better than all the numb nuts here.
You're all numb nuts, lovable numb nuts every one of you. You all love opening your yaps and saying stupid stuff that gets proven wrong sooner or later and you never admit to it and I love you all for it. I'm sure Warriors fans aren't unique but if unwarranted criticism of Myers and Kerr for doing their jobs way better than any of you can keep up with was a sport, we'd be in the midst of a dynasty.

You mean *the* Min pick which can be #4 or #5 this season, or un-protected next season. Min is worst team in the league right now.
For Jerami Grant?

Yep. But like I mentioned in another post, there's a difference between trading it without knowing where it's landing and trading it knowing where it's landing and having taken a good look at the prospects.

I would trade the Minny pick for Giannis. Not for Grant.
Oubre is fine. He's far from perfect. He had a horrid start. He makes mistakes even now. But he is not getting proper credit for the good stuff he does. He doesn't fit the model many have of the effective Warriors player, but I think the problem is more with people's model than with Oubre.
When the playoffs come he is going to win us a game that we would have lost.

What you actually mean is, you would trade the Minny Pick, Wiseman, other 1sts, seconds, and Wiggins and filler for Giannis.floppymoose wrote:I would trade the Minny pick for Giannis. Not for Grant.

Re: Trade Oubre PRONTO.
You do know historically since the turn of the century that Minny usually picks in the top 6. 10 times to be exact. Out of the remaining 10, 2 was when they held the 7th. Thats pretty much a lock knowing where one is going to pick.take in account that numbers usually have the worst record being bumped out of the 1st pick, thus having a domino effect
