Re: Welcome back GP2!!
Wings in the west gotta get past Kuminga and GP2 then help defence from Green and Looney. Add Wiggs to that list and we're still potential contenders, miraculously.

GPII doesn’t play guard. He is the shortest ever NBA center.

Re: Welcome back GP2!!
I'm excited to see GP2 take over a lot of the POA defense on PGs. Kuminga has done that admirably at times, but this lets him shift to focusing on matching up with a top scorer. And while Donte is an active defender, he gets blown by a ton at POA trying to be too aggressive. Causes lots of problems at the rim.
Basically, if we get GP2 and Wiggins back... we have a lot of perimeter defenders to throw at people that will help hide Poole/Klay.

Kuminga gets caught behind the defender so much when playing POA that i just have to assume its the scheme. They must be planning on rotating another player under the basket, having JK bother from behind, and leave someone open. It feels really weird because i would not expect that to be good defense.

Ya thats been an interesting wrinkle in NBA POA defending. Almost like an on-ball top-lock. Trae and Luka have countered by just stopping and hucking the ball up when they feel contact (Luka actually did this to Kuminga once last game). I feel like it works when you have smart rim defenders (dray/looney for instance).. but even then the other help guys need to pay attention. For instance, Klay got caught like a million times ball watching and gave up open 3s when Luka would pass out of paint.
Kuminga seems to stay close when this happens... Donte seems to get blown by closer to half court so he's already switching to rotating help instead of staying attached from behind.

GP2 questionable tonight with a sore achilles. Hope it's not serious.

I said it when it first went down, but this trade made them a real contender again
I think if him and Wiggs had played any real time post all-star, we would have ended the season in dominant fashion

GP2 looked like he was near his old self last game. If he gets right this team is very, very dangerous.

All season it felt like we were missing someone, definitely could tell right from the start. GPII gives us that extra hustle/rebound/defensive edge that we were missing. I miss Otto but with Klay playing better this season than last it may be a wash. I wish he could have been with us all year! Glad he's a dub now though, it just felt wrong with him on Portland.
He's definitely back to his old self, looked nice last game.
Still, we need to get past the Kings.

There's nobody -- repeat, nobody -- in the league that plays that position offensively like Payton at his size. Even he can't find a comparison.
"Not that I can think of," Payton said. "But it's just the way I play: Stay behind the defense and just try to work that dunker and corner spot. If they go, I'm following. They're going to leave me, so it's either a three or a dunk. I work on it every day, watch film and I'm comfortable with it.
"Night and day."

I'm reading this and thinking to myself, how perfect would jk be in that role if he was willing to embrace it.

Re: Welcome back GP2!!
GP2 has been great so far. Only other thing I'd like to see is for him to make those wide open 3s like he usually does.. missed a few the past 2 games but it's understandable given the sickness he had to overcome recently.
