ESPN's annual player rankings are working their way up the list. We can see how they rank Lee there.

Ok.

One thought. Average is around 15th. Lets say that out of the next 200 PFs drafted into the NBA 100 of them will wash out pretty quickly. Out of the next 100 approximately 15 or so will be as good or better than David lee. That means the Warriors have a 7.5% chance at getting a player better or as good as Lee once they are developed. So if the Warriors use 2 picks a year for the next 6-7 years they should get someone equal to or greater than Lee.

There was almost a 20 year gap between Lee and Webber, so that's a pretty favorable estimate considering team history.

I only say that because I don't see anyone willing to part with there more talented PF. Right now Lee is the best we can do, people should be happy with it. Average staring PF=Awesome.

This is one of the many reasons I wanted us to draft John Henson.

Wrote about you guys. More for fans that aren't Warriors fans since you probably are reminded of that team all the time, but it's fun to look back.

Whoever thinks Lee isn't a good player, or is a below average player are flat out insane.

Does average = good?

An average PF in the NBA is JJ Hickson, Glen Davis, Udonis Haslem, and Ed Davis. Davis Lee is much better than average. Just because RAPM says something dosen't mean it's true. My own personal rating system, which is much more accurate, says he's a $10,462,798.45 dollar player, 11th amongst PFs, and 44th in the NBA. I don't think that's 100% accurate, but there is more than one way to evaluate a player.

He's a slightly above average starting PF, which is really good. PFs of his caliber are hard to find. That's why he's the best PF the team has had in almost 20 years.

The average NBA PF is a second stringer getting about 7 ppg. Lee is a slightly above avg STARTER which is pretty good stuff.

It's ESPN, ignore it. They have like 3 guys total who know anything about basketball.

Kyrie's rookie season reminds me a lot of Stephs. Similar per 36 stats and some similar advanced stats and they are both very efficient scorers with solid passing ability and ball handling skills. However, so many people assuming that Kyrie will take the next step in becoming a PG (like Steph is still trying to do) is wishful thinking on their part. Especially since he's even more injury prone than Curry (at least Curry up until last year).

I wouldn't rank Kyrie top 25 yet, just as I wouldn't have given Steph a top 25 ranking after his first year.

Kyrie has top 25 talent...but I don't think he's refined his skillset at all. He can handle, shoot, drive and dish but other than ball handling and sometimes driving the ball I wouldn't say he's on an upper echelon level at any of these areas. Potential, sure, but not there yet.

Not only did Irving have one of the most productive scoring seasons for a rookie ever, he was by far the most productive 19-year old rookie, in terms of scoring, in the past 3 decades (even better than KD).

http://www.d3coder.com/thecity/2012/04/ ... point-era/

Irving is already an elite scorer, and he's still a baby. 57% TS on 29% USG is incredible for someone that young. Compare that to Klay's 54% TS on 24% USG. Klay is 3 years older.

I can't even imagine how good Irving will be on offense once he gets some talent around him. He's got it all. 40% 3-pt shooter. Gets to the line (4.5 FTA/36 min). Efficient at the rim scorer (61%). Averaged 6.4 assists per 36 min on a team that has nobody. Don't underestimate Irving. He's a special, special talent.

(Just needs to play defense better.)

Not under-estimating him at all.

I think he's more athletic than Curry, and I like how he can score on the drive.

But I think Curry may go down as the best shooter in the league if he isn't already. The shooting numbers for the start of Curry's career are very good, and I expect them to continue.

I'd definitely consider Irving in the top 25.

I think Kyrie is more naturally talented than Curry. I think Irving's ability to control the tempo of the game is better as a rookie than Curry's was even last year. He's a great shooter--deadly even, can pass can handle and can break down defenses on multiple levels. I believe his assists were suppressed in Cleveland due to a dearth of options. Kyrie was the best option on offense.

I expect Kyrie to have another killer year next year.

I know I have pointed this out before floppy, but Daivd Lees impact on team rebounding correlates with his time spent at center and small ball.

Just thought I would say it since you were posting links about David Lees fake rebounding. :P

I love media days. Always fun to see who comes into camp in good shape or nice and round.

Odom is nice and chunky.

CP3 has those patented no definition October Ray Felton arms going.

Im not worried about CP3, he always looks a little large in camp, but gets into game shape. Odom though.... I think we may be seeing his last season.

hey oaktown, those are cool graphs. Are they from some nba data site that I don't know about? Where did you get those?

Also, what is the x-axis? I assume it's time, but is it one season? more than one?

edit: nm, it looks like they are jsut some homemade graphs covering his entire career, based on the #'s at 82games.com, ya?

I'm hoping we see very little of Lee at C this season. He's much more suited to PF, and I think he (along with everyone else) will benefit from having Bogut at C.
