Walk away. I don't think Barnes is as nearly as bad a lot of Dubs fans seem to think, but walk away. No way this dude should be pulling 20+.

On the plus side, do you think Dirk is happy that the Mavericks aren't paying Parsons the max but are willing to fork it over to Barnes? Not exactly a win-now type move.

I want to be in on the phone conversation between Bob Myers and Donnie Nelson.

I hope Bob is signifying his want of the Dirk man. Somehow, someway, make it happen.

There wont be a S&T, its pointless. We have capspace, Mavs have capspace, its a needless transaction from the Mavs end. I think it increases the chances of Dirk leaving, and that's all. I dont really want him, but I know some here do

+ 1. When guys like Solomon Jones gets 4/54 I guess anything goes in this league. The NBA has totally jumped the shark. O guess Cuban's making so much money on Shark Tank), he doesn't know what to do with it. Maybe he's tryng to hamstring our cap. Hopefully he's just going to hamstring his with that crazy offer for HB.

You can't S&T with an RFA offer sheet, the Warriors would had to sign Barnes to a contract and then trade him.

I just pulled up the Mavs roster just to remind myself who they have, and they actually have a few guys that are at least mildly interesting. Aside from Dirk, I had forgotten that is where Pachulia currently sits, they also have David Lee, and they have Wesley Matthews. Not sure what their plan is there if they sink $24m into Barnes. If we ended up starting Matthews instead of Barnes, I could be at peace with that.

You cant S&T with a signed RFA offer sheet. Everything until 7/7 is in theory. Remember the DeAndre.

I wouldnt want Barnes back at that price. I would see what we can get from Dallas. I dont think Dallas will help GS.

Exactly. One of the benefits of this waiting period. "Oh... okay, so we're not going to match an offer that big. But you have some guys we like, and if you're rebuilding, maybe you don't want them. Should we sign him for you?"

So does mean that we sign him, and then trade him elsewhere (since we have matching rights)? Would that work? Since Philly seems to be interested and certainly has the money, move him to Philly and get one of their bigs and that fat TPE I mentioned earlier? Can we control Barnes destination at this point? Perhaps thats Meyers intent all along?

I hope we do the S&T or let him walk if something can't get done. I want nothing to do with Barnes at this type of money, and that's whether or not Durant signs.

Yeah it extremely benefits the team that has the RFA rights. Should we miss out on KD, we could threaten to match as a way to get a S&T trade exception. But in order to get a TE, the amount would have to be over the amount of free cap space we currently have. I'm too lazy to do that math right now, but I believe Barnes' max would start at around 21m

Any TPE as a result of a S&T of Barnes is only affected by the Warriors if they're under the cap (which they wouldn't be). Assuming no salary in return, they would get a TPE for the amount of Barnes' first year on the new contract.

If we miss out on KD were not under the cap?

Could we get back a player plus whatever the remaining amount would be in a TPE?

Nope. All of the cap holds keep the Warriors above cap. Full MLE ($5.6M). Two TPEs ($5.4M, $3.2M). Ezeli's cap hold ($5M). Speights' cap hold ($7.245M). Heck, they even have a $2.4M cap hold for O'Neal! :D

At the time of any possible S&T deal, Barnes would have a cap hold.

As I had thought for sometime now. Max offer and Mavs. Hopefully we do not match. Bad thing who is a clear upgrade? Seems a lot of options are gone and it looks like we are now 3rd in the Durant sweepstakes. Our front office better have a solid B and C plans.
