Which should we have listened to? This banger from 2011?

I would trade Curry for Anthony Davis. No hesitation.

Or this one from 2012 where you sink the entire dynasty?

Figure it out from there. Harris and Millsap have 1-yr remaining on their contracts. If it works great, if not, blow it up next season.

If you don’t trade Curry, Wiggins or Green it’s not a rebuild.

I'm sure I could find more in a few minutes. I found it realllly fast actually, just searched for "curry trade" after clicking on search user posts in your profile and started at the end. Boom. Took about 2 minutes.

The FO has gone above and beyond as long as they were able to do so.

After the 22 title, which was the cherry on top and was attainable due to the team getting something for nothing when KD went to the Nets, the league changed the CBA and made surrounding Curry with enough talent to contend nearly impossible.

Curry has been beyond amazing for the past 10 years and he was able to stand on top of the league 4 times in his career. Not many all time greats get to say that. Fans need to quit crying and just enjoy the glow of a dynasty for the first time in team history.

Werent a lot of people OK with trading Curry back then? If memory serves that was his 3rd season and he had just had his 25th ankle injury, except this one was keeping him out even longer. I know I wasn't entirely against him being dealt, at least not until the preseason of his 4th year. I believe it was against Portland.. everyone thought he rolled his ankle again. But it was clear to me at the time that it was likely a joint or strength issue, just because the way it got hurt was so weird. They wound up giving him new shoes and treating it differently, and then Curry became something of an iron man... but yeah the post Abdenour training staff wasn't our best. That said, even they couldnt ignore that the Curry ankle issue wasnt being treated right

Not sure if you have watched the last 3 games or so but Steph and Draymond have been a big part of the losing. Do you see either of them elevating their teammates?

It would take an all-star roster to get those two another chip, IMO.

Curry was pretty good against dallas. If we weren’t experimenting we would’ve been in that game. If we weren’t experimenting we would’ve beat the rockets as well.

We’re still experimenting with lineups and haven’t even played our best lineup yet. Until we do it’s hard to make any proclamations about the team and their demise.

Best lineup being curry/hield/wiggins/dray

The Warriors had the Rockets game until Steph and Dray had two empty possessions with 24 second violations and Steph took a deep three way too early in the shot clock.

The Warriors had multiple chances to make it a one score game against Dallas but Draymond was throwing lobs off the top of the backboard.

curry/hield/wiggins/dray is only 4 players....who are you playing with them?

That’s the point. We’re in the experiment phase and we’re still in the games against the top of the west. If we weren’t experimenting and playing our best lineups who knows what would’ve happened.

According to cdm anyone but jk.

That feels like it has to be false. Unless you mean that any deviation from the current path leads to a darker future? If not, then that is what this thread is for: discussing the best path forward.

I think it’s reasonable to trade 1-2 more firsts to try and make one more run with curry.

Mainly because even if we went rebuild now, our scouting department has been awful + lacob worries me. He seems to think too much of his input into the team when it’s always been about curry. Doesn’t seem like a recipe for a quick rebuild.

Wiggins is our 2nd best player on a good contract. Who are you trading him for that will make us better?

From a CBA and contract point of view, is it to trade Steph for value?

Hell, picks would make us better. I’m asking for a youth movement here. Lets start getting the farm system in order. Do i need a specific trade to participate? Did anyone here name any of the OKC trades exactly during their beginning of their rebuild?

Exactly. Thats why he is a good piece to offer in a rebuild. He has value, just not to a team like GSW. GSWs next timeline to compete is after Wiggins deal. Get something that can help GSW *then* instead of Wiggins’ value *now*.

If Steph isnt here anymore, then the whole tax situation is pretty moot anyways. Only really matters if we're trying to contend.. if we're not, then only thing that matters is to stack assets, as the team doesnt currently have any young players who profile as a top 3 player on a winner

I wasn’t thinking about whether they should trade him. I was wondering whether there’s even a market for his contract. Maybe there’s a team that could take him on.

Why not start with Draymond? Move him along with Kuminga or Podz etc. for another player. Draymond is showing signs of decline, and if you want a youth movement, I think he is the first guy to look at. He's getting older. You could keep Steph around as the older guy, while building assets. You'd have the new younger than Dray player and Wiggins, for a core of 2/3 being under 30.

Do you think the organization would actually trade Steph unless he asked? I don't think so, not now, not next year, and very unlikely the year after. There's loyalty, and there is the business case as the #1 valued franchise with Steph making the most endorsement dollars, that Steph fuels the business. I wouldn't be surprised if attendance fell off a cliff if Steph was traded for bad players + picks, plus the backlash. Lacob is not doing that, he's too invested in trying to win and enjoys making money. He believes he can just keep constantly winning without bottoming out, hence the 2 timeslines stuff. He's not going to intentionally tank, at least I'd be shocked if he did so any time soon.

So if you can agree we aren't making Steph, but you want to go younger, Dray to me is the first target. Not many teams have won championships through intentional tanking, but we can try to build up assets overall. Draymond is a declining asset, and you could try to obtain someone of higher value if the right deal is there. Maybe it isn't, but that's who I'd look to move first.

So if i were GM, everybody would be available. I would work with Steph to allow him to help choose his course, which might even be staying if he wants to mentor young players.

The reason i always start with Wiggins is that he has win-now value to someone without being a lifelong Warrior. There is zero reason to keep him around in a rebuild. But i’m totally willing to do a complete tear down.

I wonder what Draymond's value is to another team. $70MM in salary for the rest of this year plus two more years. That might be hard for a GM to justify.
