Even if Curry does come back I would not expect him to be to make the impact we need. Start and play Kumiga 40 plus minutes and hope for the best.

Warriors need to win one of the next two games, otherwise this series will be over before Steph is able to even come back.

This is pretty much what I expected. Game 5 was always a stretch, especially when he'd get an extra 3 days if he waited until Game 6. There's no way the team will rush him back, so I think it'll ultimately be a Steph decision. If he was younger, he might want to be more cautious, but at this point he knows he doesn't have too many serious postseason runs left, so who knows.

Either way, people should respect his decision whatever it ends up being. If he doesn't play, he doesn't play.

If it's up to Curry, he would definitely play. Too much of a competitor. It's going to depend on series result at that point and how much power the medical team has (aka Celebrini)

Not sure what Shams can find out before the re-evaluation on Wed unless steph goes through some type of light scrimmage. They won't practice until after game 5 so can't see how there will be any updates other than "curry went though a workout at X% speed." I can totally see him being a GTD for game 5 only to not play and having a limited role in game 6. By the same token, he may wake up on Wed and feel great and get the start. If I had to bet, I'd take the former, obviously, but Shams and co's guess is as good as mine. Unless they're in the building watching him work (like slater), I don't really care about the 'update.' We'll know on Wed, one way or the other.

If the Warriors lose tonight, it's not worth risking a rupture or a worse tear which would sideline him for at least 6 months.

I feel like I jinxed it but I was mostly serious about not letting Steph/Jimmy/Dray play in game 1 vs Minny. It was the first time I've seriously considered something like that considering the level of prison ball those 3 survived in Hou and the b2b nature of games 4-7 of that series. It would have been a bold decision and maybe steph tweaks the hammy in game 2 all the same but i do hope there was a discussion about whether to run the core out there in game 1.

I agree. Leave him out of the series at least. If we pull off some sort of miracle, great, he may return next round at some point. If not, it's been a good year, cut short by the age/injury thing our older guys are just prone to get. It is what it is.

If there is a real risk of re-injury or a worse one, shut him down, regardless of what the score is in the series. Unless we're in the finals, I don't see any reason to rush Steph back. That said, I doubt there's any chance he misses game 6 if we can get it that far.

Since we aren't doctors connected to the team, nor are we close with Steph Curry, I'd say there is some sort of chance he misses a game 6 and possibly much more.

Yeah I'm on the "keep Steph healthy" train. A title this year was always a pipe dream with us arguably short 1 good player (mainly a good 3P shooter) and with the exhaustion the team experienced with that late playoff push that was what 25 games?

Now Steph won't be 100%, and you could be throwing away the rest of his career being at a high level.

Doesn't sound great for a Steph return anytime this series...

I don't get why he wouldn't go 100% if he feels good. It may be either sit out, lose and start the offseason healthy or risk that you're going to be fine and try to extend this run. It seems to me that Curry understands his time is limited at his age to play meaningful games and although next year should have a better roster for a run, giving up one of his last chances will be hard for him to let happen.

After seeing Tatum tear the achilles and getting flashbacks of KD in '19, they should not risk it even a little bit

https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/steve-kerr-steph-curry-injury-playoff-schedule/1852182

Steve Kerr and Rick Celebrini talk about how the accelerated playoff schedule and heavy minutes for Steph in games 6 and 7 led to his hamstring injury.

Nothing about that is going to be different next year, should they make the playoffs. The league is not going to add rest to the playoff schedule.

Maybe they'll stop shittttting away games, both in the regular season, and in the playoffs. All they had to do was win game 5 or 6 to avoid running Steph into the ground by the time the second round started.

Thats not how it works. They will **** away more games because Steph will be older, and will miss more, and will play fewer minutes.

Playing Curry over 40min on avg (6 games) in not blowout games with HOU was the main cause of the injury. And even every moron knew it would happen sooner or later...This team had only two scorers who were capable to put ball into basket. That's why the main goal should have been to successfully bring Kuminga into the main rotation, so that the playoffs would be more successful and our veterans would be fresher. And it doesn't matter that the cost would have been a few losses in RS.
