THIS. For Kuminga, defense, looking for the open man and rebounding = increased minutes = increased market value. Everyone can be happy if he understands this simple equation.

Re: Warriors 2025 preseason
I saw what most people here saw.
1) This version of JK is a good player that you can play a lot. Searching for rebounds, quicker decisions, no back to the basket drawn out bs, playing some D. Now JK flashed this at times last year, it's doing it consistently that matters.
2) Al Horford looks as advertised, a perfect fit. Seeing 3 blocks in short minutes was awesome, as well as his passing and general defense. Great pickup.
3) Moody was sensational, we really need him to continue to grow. He was great before his injury, and if he can increase that confidence and shoot the 3 freely and accurately, he'll lock up that starting spot.
4) Podz showing his lack of athleticism really limits him, and it just reinforces the view that he is a backup player on a good team.
5) Draymond looked terrible, I'm going to chalk it up to it just being preseason.

Re: Warriors 2025 preseason
I thought everyone looked pretty great for the first preseason game.
Standouts were Steph, Horford, Kuminga and Moody. JK’s floor game was outstanding considering all the hoopla around him this offseason.
I guess you can say Dray played “bad” but i’m not worried about his clunky layups and 3s, overall he was moving fine and he fits great with everyone we brought in this year.
The main thing i’m looking for to start the season is:
- Are the old guys pushing back father time enough that they look about as physically capable as they were last year. And to me the answer is yes in game 1 for Steph, Jimmy, Dray, Horford, GP2, Buddy. All of them seem to be in great shape all things considered.
- Are the key younger guys improving their skill and awareness to be legit playoff level rotation guys. Preseason obviously won’t answer this, but Podz, Moody, Kuminga, Post, (even trayce and Gui) all looked improved so far.

Gui plays better with the headband. Less wind resistance. He should consider a crew cut.

Moody's shot looked better than ever, but maybe the most encouraging play he made all night was attacking the Ayton closeout and getting to the rim for a dunk. I don't ask that he attacks every closeout/rotation onto him, but the ones against slower bigs (like Sengun), he has to have that in his bag.

Moody looks to have taken the next step. Really just his confidence and willingness to shoot will open up a lot for him.

IDK why Rui felt the need to hang out there, even if Draymond shoots over Bronny, he's not hitting that 15 foot jumper on the baseline very often. Rui or anyone else needs to stick to Steph like glue, amazing after all these years guys still don't understand you NEVER leave Steph alone, not even for a split second, it's the absolute worst choice you can make in any situation. Plus I'm not sure I'm crazy about Steph setting picks on bigger guys.

Unfortunately, his game is filled with too many "he isn't".
He isn't big enough for a rim defender.
He isn't a good enough scorer.
He isn't/doesn't shoot from range.
Therefore, I agree. I think he'll be out of the league in a couple of years.

I told you guys. Al is a massive key to unlocking Warriors to a championship level. Stretch 3 with SIZ that set's top-level screens and has a similar IQ to Draymond.

The option for next season needs to be decided by 6/29/26.
His contract becomes guaranteed for the remainder of this season on 1/10/26. If he is waived before that date, the Warriors only count the amount they paid him up until that point on team salary. The Warriors could replace him at that time with a vet minimum for very little additional cost over what he would be making. If he were to be picked up off waivers, then the Warriors could remove his paid salary off the books.
Sadly, that guarantee date comes before the earliest Kuminga can be traded, which is 1/15/26. He could have been salary filler in a Kuminga trade, where the other team could waive him after the trade for no cost (other than needing a roster spot at the time of the trade).

Maybe I'm not following. He would have to be guaranteed to be salary filler.

It’s likely to see if jk can start with jb and dray. To satisfy the higher ups to say see it doesn’t work no matter what we’re trying to do.
