I honestly think the coaches went for a second shooting guard so the Western Conference team didn't have four shortstacks and Kobe. If you're running down the list of shooting guards, tell me who the second best in the West is?

It's Roy and the only counterargument is a guy who plays under 30 minutes a night or roundabout and is on a team aging before our eyes.
Roy was in the conversation statistcially to begin with, is obviously a more disciplined player than Baron, and has beaten the West consistently so far while giving well over half the West a look at him while they're being beaten by him.

This was not close.

Wasn't Jack listed as a guard though?

Yes Roy has consistently beaten the West, so much so that they're a top 4 seed with a better record that Baron's Warriors. Blazers had a 18 game winning streak and are still not in the playoffs right now. They played 18 easy games, and started to lose once they played average teams not even elite teams.

Good analysis. I can;t really argue with you here, but I do think Roy got a bit of the "feel good" nod, that Baron will never get any part of.

Who's the West Coach that selected the reserves? If it's D'Antoni then I feel sorry for Pheonix, u guys already own them, this is only gonna make Baron super motivated.

And I'm a Nuggets fan and I don't understand how they could snub a top 10 player, and imo he's right on the same level as Nash and Paul, u can't seperate them 3 as being the best PG's in the L.

I think you're absolutely right. Folks looking for chinks in Roy's armor either wish Ginobili had made it or haven't seen this kid play and lead. At all.

Thanks for the stats Crazy.

Baron's numbers are better than all of those guys except for Deron's assist totals.

what a snub.

roy's in his second year and would have been playing in the rookie soph game. There was no need to put him in ahead of a veteran.

They should lean the veterans way in these type of situations.

Roy's a damn good player and he'll be a perennial all star, but Baron deserves it.

Byron Scott is an A-hole and he couldn't put his dislike for Baron aside, showing his true colors. It's no wonder people don't like Byron. what a puss move.

got no problem with West, he's been playin out of his mind.

AI or Nash would have to back out of the game now.

Secretly Nellie's very happy. This is the kind of us against the world mentality that can fuel a team for awhile.

Since Roy made the team, does this mean a spot opens up on the Sophomore team for Kelenna Azubuike?

I have a feeling George Karl snubbed him also.

You guys can't understand that Roy had a team full of kids, himself included, and took them to that record? He's a sophomore who lead one of the youngest teams in history to the longest winning streak of the season. You guys think that the Warriors are now going to play extra hard on the Blazers to make us pay? Fine, bring it on.

You guys think Baron is more important for the Warriors than what Brandon is to the Blazers? We'd be nowhere without Brandon.

The happiest man (we're talking cloud nine I-just-won-the-lottery type happy) in the entire association right now is Don Nelson.

Not only does he get to rest his players during the entire all-star break, but he gets to play the "nobody respects us" card the entire second half of the season. Nellie playing the "nobody respects us" card is like Rodney Dangerfield playing the "no respect" card, there isn't a better card player at that game in the entire league.

Oh, and for the record, I agree with my compadres: Baron with a chip on his shoulder >>> normal baron.

Right because he did that all by himself.

Brandon Roy is playing an a very well-coached, well assembled squad. And while the achievements Roy has made this season deserves some recognition. They are not more impressive than the achievements of Baron Davis, who is having the best season of his career.

Folks can be mad about Roy having more league respect than a bunch of second tier point guards having strong years but they can't say he didn't earn it unless they haven't seen him play.

And if that's the case, they probably won't even watch the All Star game. So who cares about them anyway?

The game is plenty silly and the voting is ample parts popularity contest. Baron needs the ego stroke and that's why folks are pissy right now. He's rarely been in it for much else and he failed to campaign as a changed man to the folks that matter this year.

So what? Maybe it will make him keep working hard!
Good for us.

Look I think Baron does deserve to be in the game, but not at Roy's expense. You guys should pick on someone else.
