I was probably cool with DLo being on the team until I watched him live a few times at Chase Center. Then it was :o  :noway: :nonono:

I am beginning to sour on getting MN 2021 pick at all. I don't see 3 teams being worse than MN. I know about the odds and all, but if they are the worst or second worst team, several lottery teams from the outside top 3 got to get in front of them to bump MN out.

The bottom 3 records all have the same shot at #1,2,3.
In a worst case scenario, there's a 60% chance we get their pick.
BTW, I think the worst case scenario season wise would be for Minnesota to have the 3rd worst record.
That would leave us with a 60% chance of getting their pick... but the most likely single pick we get is 6th... and even 7th is a possibility.

We want them getting the worst record or 2nd worst record.

Even if the Wolves pick goes 1-3, the unprotected 2022 will go to the Dubs. The Wolves will just miss the post-season and then hit on the .05% chance of winning the lottery. The Warriors will select a re-classified Emoni Bates. Ask any Wolves fan and they will give this a 50% chance of happening.

If that's what we end up with, I feel like that pick needs to be used as trade bait. Unfortunately, I don't know what contracts / assets we can throw together to bring in to fully utilize the value.

I doubt Minnesota's lotto balls will win a top 3 pick 3 years in a row.

Let's offer to trade this pick back to the Wolves' for their un-protected 2022, 2024, and 2026

I don't know how long they would tank. Some of those players are playing for their next contract and the coach is trying to keep his job.

I absolutely want them to have the worst record in the league. Then just roll the dice that they aren't one of the 3 ping pong balls selected and bam we have best/worst case of a 4-5 pick. At this point, I see a big jump in talent after the top 5, so I want whatever one of those players drops. viewforum.php?f=15

"If he had drafted either Wiseman or Ball, he would have crowded either one of those guys who can block vote against him, frankly," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast. "He tried like hell for months to get out of that No. 1 pick. All the way up until draft night. In fact, the story I've heard, even on the clock he was trying to posture that he was going to take Wiseman in an effort to get the Warriors, who wanted Wiseman really bad, to swap with him and give him his draft pick back."

I think that was Scott Layden's account. Sounds like his job depended on him getting that done since he got canned shortly thereafter.

I doubt Edwards heads back to the bench anytime soon now. His volume numbers could end up large by seasons end and a likely ROTY incoming.

Bill Simmons says he doesn't see the Wolves not finishing out of the bottom 3 in the standings.

But he also says even if Klay is 100% next year, Warriors are a second round exit team.

So either this pick delivers a player that can be an instant impact player or they have to trade assets to put the Warriors up among the top contenders.

I can't say I disagree with his assessment. Klay had explosions and he carried the team in some memorable games but he has never shown that he can sustain it throughout a season. He might have been able to sustain it in game 6 and 7 if he didn't get injured.

But still a different story for a whole season.

We saw problems having to play players like Lee, Mulder, Wanamaker in the Boston game. The other thing Simmons noted is the absolute plunge in Draymond's offensive game. It's not just the poor jump shooting percentages, it also seems to be inability to finish at a high enough rate.

They really need to use Oubre's salary slot for someone who's at least a decent, consistent rotation player. May mean also using this pick and JW as trade assets.

Is there hope tonight? Or setup for another disappointment?
