They can't as easily. Last season, they only scheduled the first half and then waited before scheduling the second half.

This year, all the arenas are more booked so there isn't the slack in the schedule to move things around.

Looks like teams are signing up players to 10-day deals.

Warriors going to wait it out and then if they have several other players go down, they're going to look for scraps?

They can sign two to replace Poole and Wiggins and then if they have a couple more players enter the protocol, they will have people in place.

Right, but if the volume continues as it has I'm not sure why they wouldn't explore cancelling X amount of games and using that fresh time to postpone others (my understanding is TV deals require a commitment up to XX games - it was 72 during COVID). It's just getting silly at this point. The Nets are barely able to play.

That's the reason teams are required to sign players. To avoid cancelling games. And it looks to me like the Warriors are required to sign one player--you're only exempt if you can have 13 healthy players on the bench, which he Warriors don't.

Did anybody else realize that our very own Monta Ellis is still being paid through this season by the Indiana Pacers? They waived him in 2017.

I wonder if the 2022-23 season will give us China Monta.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

Judging by the fact the NBA just postponed a game I'd imagine shortening the season is still a very real option that's on the table. And no I don't think hardship exception players remedy the root issue - they can get COVID too.

At the very least, they may look to cram games into the late schedule once they 'figure out' how to handle this phase of COVID. I understand the reality of needing to play X amount of games, but when marquee Christmas and New Years games pit Anfernee Simons against Talen Horton Tucker I think they might start to re-consider as that would cut into viewership.

The NFL reduced testing of vaccinated players because of the assumption that Omicron cases are asymptomatic.

On a podcast, someone said that of the 22 players testing positive, 20 of them still could have played.

Others are pushing for quarantine periods to be shortened for vaccinated or vaccinated plus boosted people to be shortened.

Maybe NBA will consider doing that but unless they test negative a couple of times, it's hard to let them just play, infect others.

If you listen to several podcasts it takes some serious effort to go back and find who and on what podcast.

The NBA lowered the number of days down from 10 to 6.

The CDC recommended 5 days for the public.

I figure if a team doesn't want to add a player and are under the minimum then they can just forfeit the game.

Suns sign Biyombo to a 10 day deal. Surprised he never made it onto a roster this year unless he was injured.

Bismack never lived up to anything, but a nice 3rd big man for a contender.

Warriors have waived Jeff Dowtin opening up a roster spot.....maybe they keep Weatherspoon on a 2 way or go in another direction.

Good move. Dowtin just never looked up to it. Jittery with no next level skills. Not sure if he's an NBA level player. Quindarry is, and was great in the G League.

Yep. I saw a lot of the Summer League this year, including the games in Sacramento (when Dowtin was part of the Warriors’ squad), and Dowtin never struck me as an NBA player. I was stunned - and disappointed - when the Warriors signed him to the last 2-way spot. Weatherspoon is a much better fit, and more likely to actually hit the floor on occasion. Good adjustment by the Warriors to swap out Dowtin and replace him with Weatherspoon.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Weatherspoon spent 2 years with the Spurs so you can know he at least has a good foundation. That said, he's likely the 17th man on the Warriors so whatever he can bring is a bonus (unless he screws up a LOT).

Normally, I would say this guy isn't getting playing time. With Covid though, all bets are off.

What is our two-way situation now with Weatherspoon?

Could Denzel Valentine be a guy we add to develop now that he's on the market? Always liked his game and could be a good glue guy at the end of the bench.
