The option for next season needs to be decided by 6/29/26.

His contract becomes guaranteed for the remainder of this season on 1/10/26. If he is waived before that date, the Warriors only count the amount they paid him up until that point on team salary. The Warriors could replace him at that time with a vet minimum for very little additional cost over what he would be making. If he were to be picked up off waivers, then the Warriors could remove his paid salary off the books.

Sadly, that guarantee date comes before the earliest Kuminga can be traded, which is 1/15/26. He could have been salary filler in a Kuminga trade, where the other team could waive him after the trade for no cost (other than needing a roster spot at the time of the trade).

Maybe I'm not following. He would have to be guaranteed to be salary filler.

I think that’s the point statesman was making. We have to guarantee him on 1/10 in order to be eligible to be part of a trade after 1/15…… whereas another team may not really want him, so if his guarantee date was, say, 2/1, we could include him in a trade to make it a legal trade, but then the new team could just cut him without paying him anything.

I assume his contract is like others, where you can negotiate and potentially push back the guarantee date. If so, I’d try doing so if I was the Warriors.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

All non-guaranteed contracts are guaranteed on 1/10. And non-guaranteed contracts count for $0 in a trade, so it wouldn't do anything to make a trade legal.

On my way to Chase. Curious how many Horford jerseys I see. Or JK #1.

Started Al instead of Podz. They were kinda klunky on offense.

Man, that second unit sucked. Will the Dubs ever get a true backup point guard?

See? JK is smarter than a lot of you give him credit for: he called for a challenge that actually had a chance to be overturned before Draymond could call for a dumbass one that had no chance.

JK is our best player at the half.....defense has been bad and Al looks old today. And we are shooting like 20% on wide open threes lol

I think Portland hitting 12 of 28 3s in the first half and GS's 12 TOs are the big issues.

Golden State looks like they're just not used to each other as of now, I'm not worried about it. This may just be the negatives of not being able to practice together this summer because of the late signings.

No he wasn’t.

he was doing pretty well at half time, defending, passing ... 3rd quarter was disaster...and Podz was just not doing much out there if he is not with the stars

Jk has been playing well. Moving the ball and not just trying to iso the entire time.

Really love Richard's game. His D is already better than both Moody and JK.

Bench mob turned a tough watch into a fun game, kudos. I am going to miss Loon, but if QP shoots like this regularly it's going to be hard to keep him off the floor, he might still get abused on defense but there's not a lot of Cs who can chase him around on the perimeter and the spacing he provides will open up other things.

Chauncey starting Grant over Deni is hilarious.

That team is going to be best when going small and switching and pressuring everything.
