Reported that Thomas for Barry and Elson deal done. Includes San Antonio #1. Apparently didn't get it done for Artest. Still in the running then I guess.

Artest for the TE may be the only deal left for Sacto.

The next 3 hours should be interesting.

I have finally come around and feel that Artest would help us.. My only concern would be that he is still too much of blackhole sometimes... as long as he knows that he isnt option number 1 here, but will get a fair amount of shots, i would be up for it...

one bad thing would be that Biedrins moves to the bench if Artest comes

Baron, Ellis, Sjax, Artest, Webber.. with Al, Biedrins, Barnes, Peaches? rounding out the 9 man rotation

Hopefully Nellie finally got the clue that Webber and Beans is the way to go.

Or Beans and Al to start.

But Webber and Al is ok, but we need the rim protector out there as much as possible, even though he can't hit the 3.

Well, the rumor has always been that the Nuggets are willing to part with expiring contracts and their 1st rounder. Given that the Warriors are division & regional rivals with the Kings I'd have to think the Kings would send Artest to the Nuggets for expiring contracts and a 1st rather than to the Warriors for the TPE and their 1st.

And for anyone that tries to mention money here: the Maloofs have already turned down trades with the Lakers due to the mere fact that they're rivals. The trade would have HELPED the Kings but they turned it down. They obviously put some kind of negative value on helping rivals in any form.

We shall see.

Why would the Kings turn down a half year rental deal just because it's in the division?

they probably turned down a Laker deal because it was crap, not because it was within the division.

Even if the Warriors got Artest from you guys, it would probably only be for the remainder of thisd season, so why would the Kings care about that, your seasons over as far as the playoffs go.

My point isn't that they'd turn it down for no reason. My point is that I feel that based on the rumors we've been hearing for a while now, common sense, and my take on the Maloofs that if it came down to it and they had both offers on the table (Expiring contracts + Nuggets 1st OR TPE + Warriors 1st) that they'd take the Nuggets deal and ship Artest outside of the division.

I just don't see the Warriors getting Artest unless they make an offer that has legitimately more talent (to compensate for the in-division/region issue)

Sac is trying to get Linus from from DEN.. thats the hold up right now.. DEN doesnt want to let him go...

So if it came down to Najera and 1st or TPE and 1st, i say it would be a toss up

The Kings aren't competing with the Nuggets for casual fans in the region or for corporate money in the region or for anything else other than a playoff spot in the conference (in general obviously).

Saying that the distance between the Kings and the Warriors means nothing is completely naive.

They likely can sign and trade him in the offseason.

Malik Rose or Jerome James + Nate Robinson for Ron Artest.

Yeah, have fun with that.

Artest's agent all but said he's going to be seeking big money for Artest. No team under the cap is going to give him big time money. So that leaves teams needing to make the Kings a legitimate S&T offer for him.

The crap that you suggested isn't legitimate.

If they get a TPE for him, they get a whole year to figure out who they want. That seems like a logical move for them plus it cuts their payroll by about $3M this year. One thing about this: Don't add no stinkin' pick.

You're delusional if you think the Kings would trade Artest for JUST a TPE. Actually, that's BEYOND delusional.

Further, a TPE doesn't fit what the Kings are trying to do at all. They're looking to CUT salary. The entire point of a TPE is that you can TAKE ON salary later.

Trading a player as talented as Artest to a RIVAL and getting back nothing that legitimately helps the team is a flat out joke.

Reading the Kings beat writer blog, Artest trade options shrinking by the minute.
