Re: James Wiseman 2021/2022
Hang on a second...Did Wiseman have a SECOND knee surgery?
https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/02/2022-nba-trade-deadline-preview-pacific-division.html
The Warriors already benefited from one major in-season “addition” when Klay Thompson returned to action last month for the first time since 2019. James Wiseman could be a second one if he’s able to make it back in the second half from a pair of knee surgeries.

He had a cleanup in December.

wtf does cleanup even mean? Did they remove the meniscus at that point, or just trim it?

At this point, any tiny piece of positive news is welcome.

Basically after any surgery the enemy is inflammation. Wiseman's knee was getting inflamed after working out which means something was irritating it. A "clean up" is sometimes removing things put in during surgery, removing scar tissue, removing loose material, etc. It's a minor procedure but it extends the recovery because it changes how things interact so they need to train the joint back to a consistent level of stability then and only then go back to slowly increasing strength and force the joint experiences.
IF his knee is going to be good and stay good they have to get it and his habits 100% now, because 7 footers often have joint and leg issues that can become chronic if not dealt with very carefully.

Woah. Initially, nobody said anything about things being put inside Wiseman's knee during surgery. Just how extensive was the initial damage to the meniscus? We're going on 10 months since the dude has played an NBA game.

Re: James Wiseman 2021/2022
It’s most likely scar tissue or a torn flap.. I don’t have a long explanation in me so just Google meniscus repair surgery or something, I dunno
Never heard of pins/screws put in for meniscus surgery though. Seems unlikely considering it’s function

Agree. Definitely no screws or other hardware there unless his injury was other than has been disclosed.
I am moderately hopeful again personally if he is back training/practising with no knee swelling.

Well, he's back, but we're yet to see if there's more swelling, and considering how black ops the Warriors treated the December swelling, who knows what going on right now.

I was talking about a "clean up" not specifically about Wiseman's surgery.

I don't think it was treated "black ops" ... I think they didn't expect the swelling, then it happened repeatedly and Wiseman's doctor suggested they do a clean up. That information is not the public's business. I wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors needed permission to disclose it.

Also - as repeatedly evidenced on this board - there’s no point providing an update when the healing window is undefined. Because it just takes one clown reading it as “his career could be over”, putting his arms out and spinning.. and before you know it, it’s a whole idiot tornado of people eulogizing Wiseman’s career

So what exactly has Wiseman been doing all these months? Has he been shooting 1000 free throws a day? Has he been watching film with the coaches several hours a day? Has he been hitting the weight room like a demon and building his upper body strength?

Good news! Now we'll have to hope that his knee doesn't cause any problems with the ramped up activity.

And no knee brace, I must say.
Hopefully he plays by the start of next month.

Nothing at all, especially when I’m literally envisioning it. I imagine the entire GB operates like this
Return to Golden State Warriors
