There may be an attractive piece who’s bought out.

Or have they signed enough players that they really don't need to add more?
I will be highly annoyed if these guys go to other teams and get key minutes.
Batum isn't even available yet.
Who knows what is going on with GR3. Maybe they offered him a cheap contract and he turned them down.
They may want to try and fit either into a vet min. Which would mean allowing them to find better deals first, before them excepting a min deal.

Adding a minimum contract at this point will put them into a 575% tax bracket. So it will effectively cost $11M.

According to the scale, which is the same as last year, assuming their team salary at the moment is about $166M they are about $34M over the tax line. As I read it they are up against the $5.25 line, which would means an additional $1.6M would cost $1M at $4.75=$4.75M, and $600k at $5.25=$3.1M. Anyway, I don't think we can estimate now what the team salary will be at the end of the year - they calculate it on the last day of the season.

I have them at $172M hence your discrepancy.

If he only gets minimum deals, he may prefer a contender like the Lakers.

They said 5 other teams are after him, including the Nets and Clippers so Batum is getting his money and may prefer a minimum deal to ring chase.
Also as a Euro, he may prefer to be on the East Coast.
Wonder if he would prioritize playing time, since he'll be playing for his next contract.
