Odd to trade the #41 pick for two lesser picks before you even know who's available. The only reason I can imagine is that the Warriors wanted two cheap players to fill out the roster, did not care much about anyone potentially available at their spot, and were unwilling to use cash to buy a late pick.

Nobody should expect much from picks in the 50s. I don't know much about Toohey but supposedly he showed out at the combine. Richard strikes me as a reasonable pick because if his college play translates, he has a chance to stick around the NBA. And us trading up for him means we liked him more than anyone else still available (though not as much as Toohey).

But remember: anything you get out of a pick in the 50s – anything at all – is a bonus and a win. The expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

TB wrote:Really fun draft. I would have just taken Raynaud 41 but thats hindsight since the trade was already made. And after the trade my picks would have been Luis and Toohey so all things considered i’m on board since I also like Richard.

Toohey reminds me of Santos, but he has better shooting mechanics and a bit more explosiveness finishing. Would not be shocked at all if he becomes a fan favorite reserve sooner than later.

Huge Richard fan but his shooting mechanics made me cross him off the list at 41. He’s got a funky release yet is a great all-around player and the shot does fall somewhat regularly. He reminds me a ton of JTA…. if the shot is good, he’s a great role player because his intangibles are off the charts… but that shot drops below 35% and you start questioning if hes an NBA player… see JTA trajectory.

All and all, two really easy guys to root for following the Dun Jr mold… boring but rotation type guys… high floor, low ceiling.

Am I the only guy who thinks toohey is a draft and stash and we will see him in Australia next year? Ala jessup?

I do think Toohey can be an upgrade to Gui at some point.

This video is pretty cool to see how "intel" gets dispersed. Really shows how important it is to have good relationships with agents. Obviously we were tipped off that someone was going to take Will Richards which is why we had to move up to get him.

Somebody noted that when GSW drafted Curry, cameras watched him frown as an initial reaction because he wanted to go to the Knicks so badly.

At least he wasn't a diva and came here and made the best of it.

Looks like that kid Bailey is going to pout in Utah.

I think the Warriors are hoping JK takes the QO so they can utilize the filled MLE. Agree on the 2 cheap srp contracts at $1m each to help stay under the 1st apron.

Watching this, it's very clear Curry did not want to come here and was actively trying to not get picked here. Seems like he did the same thing to Minnesota which is why they didn't pick him. It did seem like he was upset or disappointed when he was selected but was able to change his mentality quickly.

Same with CMB, he definitely said "****" when he got drafted by the Raptors, because they have a ton of players similar to him.

MDJ said there was 1 player they were trying to trade up for in the middle of the 1st round. A player they thought could've helped in his first year. Who was that player? I think it was Clayton.

Crazy they have almost the same wingspan and max vert. I thought toohey was smaller without shoes but I didn't look too hard.
