Pretty sure Tyreke Evans averaged 20/5/5 in his rookie season (and beat out Steph, Harden, Jrue Holiday and DeRozan for RotY).

The most apt comparison right now might be to Luka.

Ridiculous comparison.

At best, he's a Jason Kidd type.

Type Sleep, type. Tall PG, flashy passing, not a natural scorer, good in transition, fugly shot.

Doncic and Ball are nothing alike IMO.

Well, you said “at best” as though Kidd were the lesser player vs Donkey. I don’t see Luca in any halls of fames yet.

LeBron also isn't in the Hall of Fame yet. But even if Luka never improves and just plays for ten years at this level he'll be in the Hall of Fame easily and he's quite clearly better than Jason Kidd.

LaMelo Ball has great upside if he can score at league average efficiency and continues to work on defensive fundamentals. He's an amazing playmaker, that's for sure. But he's not Luka Doncic, and Wiseman has considerable potential as well if he progresses well. It's too early to shift too far away from one's pre-draft impressions (provided one followed the prospects), we're just a couple games into their careers.

It takes a couple years before we really know how the draft pans out. Sure, you can draw some conclusions a bit earlier but you won't have a great idea of the overall draft until a couple years have passed. Just look at the 2016 draft and how the top 3 picks played in their respective Rookie seasons and how they play this year.

I saw one poster call Wiseman our Johnny Flynn lol.

You know a thread has jumped the shark when you don’t care for a draft pick and the dude compares him to a guy out of the league who never did ish.

Why can’t we say that Lamelo is playing good, and doing many of the things that some of us who wanted Wiseman could also see Lamelo was good at?

I mean I wanted Wiseman badly as many of you know. But I can also tell you all of the good things, and bad, that many of the other draft picks can do.

I’d love to say, dang Lamelo looked great last night. He really had it going! But then, of course predictably.....Warriors blew it! Or did you see that dunk from Edwards! Warriors blew it....blah blah blah

It’s friggen nauseating.

Luka over Kidd? You gotta be kidding me. Kidd is a top 5 PG all time. Luka is nowhere near that discussion yet. Kidd put those Nets teams on his back and led them to the finals. You hear his old teammates talk about how much coaching he did on the court? He had Lebron-level BBIQ. Luka is not on that level, it even seems like he’s going in the opposite direction and he’s losing his teammates. You can’t do box score analyzing in an era of inflated stats.

Luka is definitely on an HOF trajectory. Doesn’t mean he’lol make it, but I might lay down some cash on that one.

Kidd definitely one of the greats who couldn’t shoot for ess most of his career. I think Ball will shoot better than him, and Luka definitely better shooter.

But Kidds calling card was defense and passing. Elite on both ends of that. And also a great rebounder for a guard.

The thing so many disregard when talking about Lamelo is the defense. While he gives an ok effort, he’s just not a good defender. We can love all of the passing and remarkable triple double flirting, but why do so many only look at offense? This highlight culture just doesn’t care much about defense. Sad

Yes, because of longevity.

Its arbitrary but...is Kidd a top 5 PG of all time? In no particular order I think there's an argument for Magic, Isaiah, Curry, Nash, Stockton, Oscar Robertson, Chris Paul, Gary Payton, Walt Frazier. He belongs in that group somewhere, I guess where is pretty subjective.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

I can see Embiid in him too. Wiseman has the potential to also be a very high IQ type of player.
He studies, he learns fast, and he wants to be elite... ffs he speaks Mandarin... 8-)
He will add solid picks and good passing to his abilities soon enough.

He’s more athletic than Embiid. Embiid a better shooter and better footwork.

But I see a thicker AD at the same time of their ages. But I don’t like the comparisons much because he is a special mix.

If you're not expecting a center to have a longer ramp to success than a guard, possibly much longer, you're not being realistic. Whether we can afford the wait with this team is up for debate, but it should be expected.

I've moved Oscar down to like #7 just because he dissed Steph

The "back in my day we walked 10 miles in the snow" BS he was spewing was so lame

why? not sure where this blind loyalty comes from. he's a nice kid and a nice talent, but to act like he's the second coming of jesus is just absurd...we have to ask the serious questions about how he fits on this team and in this offense (should be have been asked by our FO before we drafted him but here we are).

it's pretty obvious this offense runs completely different when he's off the floor...some of it is probably because he's just a rook, but some of it is because, well, he's not a good fit here...he's a positionally locked center who can't really pass/set screens at a high level who needs plays drawn up for him specifically to produce...in what world does that sound like a Warriors type of player?

this idea that we have to ride with Wiseman at the expense of everyone else and the system is bonkers...if we can find a better fit here someone on a rookie contract we should consider it.

i don't see why this is viewed as some wild take.

I'm torn on Wiseman. I can see the potential for something special down the road. But, I worry that "down the road" might be when Curry is in his twilight. So, when I hear Andre Drummond's name bandied about, I can't help but think what the Warriors could be now, not some time three or four years from now.

I wonder if moving Wiseman to the bench messed with EP somehow
