Regarding GP2: I’m not sure his market is going to be there. His success seems very tied to the Warrior system. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him back on a very reasonable deal.

If he does I'd love to see if Dennis Smith Jr could replicate some of what GP2 can do.

I am not sure about that. I suppose for consistency reasons, Kerr would go back to the starting lineup that worked to get them to the #7 seed. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Kerr insert Butler for Kuminga and leave Post in to start. There may be a desire to start the game with size again.

I can also see kerr giving that job to buddy. I'm not even saying I agree to say it's a braindead take like it's set in stone is .. well, par for the course for EvanZ. No need to be civil on a message board designed to spur conversation, right?

I think he's saying GP2 will be back for less than the 9m he's making but , in either case, I'd like to see DSJ show up in the summer. Probably gets more than a minimum deal, to be honest.

Yes and I’m saying if gp2 does get a more lucrative offer dsj might be able to replicate some of what gp2 brings.

I doubt that GP2 will get any meaningful offers. He's an oft-injured, non-scoring guard, a very narrow specialist of sorts. I liken him to Looney in that respect, who has also never had an offer from another team. The Warriors have been able to utilize their strengths because of various circumstances. I think he'll re-sign with them for the minimum, projected to be about $3.3M for his 9 years in the league. I can see the same for Looney, his will be about $3.6M for his 10+ years.

NYK media said they might want Looney. So I expect $8 mil a year still. So maybe $25mil/3 yr?

Actually thinking about it more we could probably re-sign both of them for whatever since it’s likely jk is going to cost less than 25M unless he gets s&t for a higher number.

They said that last summer, that they might be interested in trading for him before the season started. That's a far cry from offering him anything as a free agent now. Last time he was a FA he got no offers, despite starting 80 games the year before. This year he started 6.

Looney actually resigned with Dubs very quickly with hometown discount. From what I read, there were talk from other teams talking about bigger numbers in the negotiation process. He liked Kerr and wanted to stay in Dubs not knowing what his future will be elsewhere. Which was smart because GP2 got the sh#t treatment in Portland.

Only 12 minutes in game 4, only 3 points. Inability to score means Buddy starts and gets minutes.

How does Moody score other than wide open 3s?

No midrange game. No bag around the bucket. He's got that hang in the air, off the glass layup but it's only seen maybe .5 times a game. His shot is just too slow to get off in traffic anywhere on the court.

Pretty much. The scoring he was doing the first 5 weeks after the Butler trade (13 ppg, near 39% 3-pt) has cratered. If you remove the first game with Butler where Moody hadn't started yet, his 3-pt shooting was 40.8% in 15 games.

Moody now has 15 single-digit scoring games in the last 20 games, averaging 6.9 ppg and 30.1% 3-pt during that stretch.

Never really saw him as a shooter even though he's advertised as one. When hes off he's OFF. His shot is pretty flat.

The fact that Kerr trusts gp2 as much, if not more, than Moses is pretty clear. Moody probably just lost his starting gig and it makes sense this thread is getting traction the day after that happens.

What a brain dead take. Moody will be back in the starting lineup tonight, assuming Jimmy is back.

Stay humble.

On a serious note, buddy with a +17 on a night where he didn't really get going from 3. He had 4 rebs, 3 asts, 2 stls, 0 TOs on top of the much needed scoring. We'll see how long he hangs on to the starting gig

If you're trusting Buddy Hield, you're setting yourself up to lose.

I still do not like moody as a 6th man but I am fine with Moody as an 8th man now.

His shooting percentages and efficiency drop a great deal when he comes off the bench.

His shooting % have been mediocre outside of a two month stretch this season. He looked unplayable last night on offense despite being in multiple games that were just as important as yesterday's (as opposed to podz or buddy).

I'm sure the rationale will be a long-term trust, but for at least one Game 7, the Warriors don't advance without Hield.
