Meanwhile, the Warriors are closing in on ensuring they keep their own pick this season. Looks like any loss or wins by the Knicks and Portland should do the trick.

Next season, between KAT doesn't missing so many games, Anthony Edwards' rapidly improvement rate, and another blue chip prospect they would add with a top 3 pick, they would surely improve enough to at least contending for a playoff spot.
If there are good Vegas odds on Minny not making the playoffs next year, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Minn is trying to get the pick to convey this season so they have a shot at Chet if things don't work out next season. Edwards + Chet is a mean combo so you can't blame em

If Minny was only worried about next yrs draft and really wanted their pick to convey to us this season, they would just remove the restrictions and get another asset from us for doing so. Probably our first.... but trust me, they would much prefer a top three pick this year than a chance at Chet.

Which begs the question... would the Warriors give up the 15th or 16th pick for a 40% chance at getting the #1 2 or 3. Personally I think you go for it.

^ Easily. If you miss on Chet at the top next year.. then youre left with a middle of the round pick this year and a high salary on an early guy who may stink next year and you already have one of those in Wiseman. If you get a top 3 pick this year and can choose one of Green, Mobley, Suggs or Cade (though i think he stinks and is basically Harrison Barnes.. he is a fit at SF).. then you have to do it.

Sure, of course. I think nobody would be opposed to that.

The question is, would Minnesota agree with this? No way.

Just disagree with your assessment on Cade... he's much better than HB. He's similar to Paul Pierce, IMHO. Much more shifty with the ball, a vastly superior passer (Harden-esque), etc, etc, etc.

Cade is a surefire franchise player. He will benefit A LOT from the NBA spacing, just wait and see.

Though they would still bleed a lot of points (any team with KAT as C will, IMO), any team with:

KAT (missed a lot of games)
Edwards (19/5/3 as a 19-year old; 24/5/3 post-ASG; plus a huge improvement next season, as expected from his age range)
D-Lo (horrible as a 1st/2nd option, but useful as the 3rd/4th best player on the roster)
Malik Beasley (missed a lot of games, too)

+ good supporting players (Nowell, Reid, McDaniels, etc)

+ one of Cade, Mobley, Suggs, Green

+ trade/deals, etc (re-signing Rubio?)

... would surely compete for a playoff spot.

Notice I'm not saying they will 100% get a spot, but would be in the mix.

So, while in this current season you'd have a top 4/8 pick, if they keep the pick, and with all I said above, I think next season's pick would be on the 10/18 range.

Edwards has an NBA body. On the other hand, somebody needs to feed Chet a cheeseburger or two. He's clearly talented, but good Lord is that kid malnourished. The arms are twigs.

Turn it around on them. If we got #6 or #7 this draft, would Minny trade their 2022 unprotected for it?

Rockets clearly will have worst record. Then there are FIVE teams with 20 or 21 wins right now, and MIN is one (with 21 wins). They could end up with 6th worst record, which makes it pretty likely their pick will transfer.

L10 for the bottom 5:

ORL 3-7
CLE 0-10
OKC 1-9
DET 2-8
HOU 1-9

The new lottery odds have addressed tanking well  Good job, good effort

Yep. They will tank nevertheless. There is no other option for them.

As of now, DLo has played the most minutes tonight of any MIN player, and is 1-9 on FG. They are winning despite him.
