Gosh, Clyde, I'm beginning to think you're not a Wiseman fan.

I'm starting to worry about all the controversy surrounding Wiseman. For whatever reason, he just seems to be a very controversial and polarizing pick. People either love him or hate him. That alone separates him from someone like Anthony Davis, whom everyone was fawning over from day one. Controversy, polarization, questions about his rebounding and screens (or lack thereof), questions about him disrupting the team's flow, now injury...that's a pretty rocky start. I don't know where this is headed, but right now I'm starting to wonder whether this might just be a bad fit...which sucks, because I'm legitimately intrigued by a seven footer who shows an aptitude for hitting threes.

Really it doesn't matter how well he fits into the motion offense or not. The offense doesn't work without Steph any way so they're going to have to slowly change the offense anyway. It's not like we didn't change the offense for KD and Steph can work in any offense.
The biggest thing for him is can he be a defensive anchor? If he can approximate Gobert defensively with a bit more mobility then he'll be worth it. He's still got a long way to go obviously but his length and height are disruptive at times already so that's good. Will he be only a drop center though because if he's only a drop center that's when the real trouble will start because if you can't play other types of defenses and are locked into drop defenses because of your center and you have to play that center then you're not going to get far.

Controversy? Well, if disagreements among a few posters on a message board qualify as controversy, I guess so. I haven't heard anything resembling controversy from people like Kerr, 'Draymond, Steph, or anyone that actually matters.

agreed, a few opinionated posters who think they can conclude from a handful of games from a 19yo 7' rookie what his entire career will look like.

John Collins is apparently available. Perhaps Atlanta would swap Collins for Wiseman?

Collins will earn significantly more $ from next season. Good player though.
I am really not concerned about Wiseman at this point. He showed flashes of great potential already. The coaching team is raving about his willingness to learn. What else would you realistically expect from a 19y old rookie that didn't play professional ball before, missed training camp and was inserted into a new roster with a lot of moving parts?!

Collins would fit in better with the team's timeline though. He's ready to contribute to a championship contender now...as opposed to 3 or 4 years from now. Add Collins and a veteran center (Javale McGee?) and we might be able to work our way up the rankings instead of contending for a last playoff spot and likely get run out in the first round.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
As I said about Oubre, these arguments are pretty much religious. Some of these folks will never back down on Wiseman no matter what he or the Warriors do together. As with other similar "controversies" in the past, they will either declare themselves right, if things don't work out, or they will go silent and disappear into the mists if things do.
Anyway, y'all have made your point. Get rid of Wiseman. The only way to save the franchise, etc., etc. Now can we talk about something else?

Omg so bad.
However if you can swing a deal with Oubre involved for Collins, then you do it. Not happening imo
But seriously bro.....have just a little bit of patience

Curry is turning 33 in exactly one month. As much as I see the potential for Wiseman to develop, my concern is with squandering what's left of Curry's prime. This is not a criticism of Wiseman. Again, my concern is with the team's timeline over the next 2 to 3 years and whether or not Wiseman can realistically contribute to another championship within that time frame.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
Nothing has changed really. As long as Klay Thompson sits on the sidelines with his 40+ million contract, the Warriors aren't contending. And as long as we don't know at what level he can play after his comeback, there is absolutely no point in making a trade that sends out some of our young talent. It would only get us from the playoff bubble to something like a 2nd round PO team.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
Collins wants more money than the Warriors would pay.
In fact probably more money than the Hawks may be willing to pay.
You have to see what kind of contract he gets first.
If it's like $20 million a year or less, it's a tradeable contract. If it's like $25 million or more, probably not a good contract.

Are you privy to some management decision making that the rest of us are not privy to? According to all the "experts," signing Oubre was supposed to be a "bridge too far" due to the luxury tax hit. What we subsequently learned is that Warriors management is willing to spend whatever it takes, luxury tax be damned. And why shouldn't they? Their most recent Forbes valuation has them valued at 4.7 billion.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
Forbes valuation is some columnist puling a number out of his ass.
What buyer is going to pay that kind of money to buy the team when they are suffering a 70% loss in revenues with an uncertain future?
Cash flow is what matters.
And long before the pandemic, when it was the best of times for the NBA, there were such concepts as good and bad contracts.
Those criteria are still valid.

First of all I’m not worried about Currys age. I think he’s like fine wine.
Second, I believe Wiseman will be helping in a huge way by next season. I think I will have fun laughing at these types of terrible trade posts, exaggerations, and other horrible takes.
The kid in year 3 is gonna be pushing the top players in the game. Maybe year 4, but I’m loving his smarts to go with the other gifts. And his work ethic.

John Collins turned down a 90 million dollar extension with the Hawks, he wants an 125 million Max contract. Collins isn’t a Max contract player.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off
