Let's say the Minny pick comes in at #7. Does the #7, our #17, and our 2022 FRP get us into the top 3-5? Having multiple picks is nice but maybe this year is when you go big to get a future franchise cornerstone. Cade will almost certainly be gone by 4 and most likely Mobley as well. The guy I would probably target there is Jalen Suggs as a short-term backup/protection for Curry and long-term Curry replacement. And I feel like he'll be able to legitimately help us by at least year 2 if not sooner (ie. still inside our big 3's window).

Alternately, and I'm not sure I like this idea, what does Wiseman and the #7 get us?

That's s negative value trade. You want to trade the 2nd pick and this years 7th for the 3rd. I think Suggs is a Brandon Roy type player but if you are looking for a future replacement and now bench player, you can look at the Tennessee or Baylor kids for that. We didn't draft curry or klay in the top 3

Wolves won 2 too many games in an expected 5 player draft but you never know who develops

Everybody seems pretty sure about this top tier of players but how many times did the projected top five of any draft actually turn out to be the top five players? I'm guessing never.

Just saying...

I took a look at Ziaire Williams in the last few days.

I liked what I saw. Reminds me of Paul George. Very good shooter, good size for the position as well. His flaws can be corrected too.

What do you think of him? Would he be a good pick at 17?

I mean, maybe someone prefers Barnes over Kuminga?

I’d bet a fair amount of money that Cade-Mobley-Suggs-Green are the top 4 picks

I love Williams but I think by the time the draft comes around he'll be a consensus top-10 pick. Very smooth, very coordinated, very good ballhandler and passer and nothing wrong with his outside shot.

I wouldn't be surprised if we took him with the Minny pick if we get it.

Ziaire going top 10 I think could happen, but with the 6/7 pick it would be too high.

I mean, someone could reach for him, it has happened many times in the past, but in a sense I believe there are easily 7/10 better players than him in this coming draft.

The front office REALLY has to figure out what kind of player they want to go for in the 1st pick, maybe even reaching for Ziaire (as you said) or even Springer (as I think could happen, because I sense this guy will skyrocket the boards come workouts time), and then, with the 17th... someone like Jalen Johnson could be available. Or even Ziaire, depending on his/other workouts.

Still, Ziaire's skillset fits a need in this roster that we have.

Yeah, he was highly rated coming into his freshman season but had an underwhelming year. I have a feeling he won’t last until 17 but if he did I wouldn’t mind the pick.

I like Moses Moody if the Minnesota pick is in the #7-10 range. He may be the best shooter and has the tools to be a great defender. His glaring weakness though is his inability to finish around the rim. Its pretty horrendous, actually.

Oh I agree with you, those guys will be the top four picks.

But in five years time, I bet they are not the four best players from the draft. That never happens.

Suddenly this pick isn't just a nice bonus, the rich getting richer.

It's more of a must. They need it to convey and they need the player they draft to be good, fairly soon, at least become a starter-level play, deserving of 25-35 minutes a game by his second season.

I'd say that's true of every 10 top pick of every team.
