It's all good and well to say let's just flip the switch on when it's the spurs but if the defensive effort in the 4th hasn't been there consistently up to that point it'll make it that much harder to just turn it on when it suits us. Good habits are practised and right now we aren't practising good 4th quarter defence enough in my opinion.
This along with turnovers are my only 2 concerns.

Spurs in the mean time statistically have one of the best defences in history full stop.

Its not all Speights' fault, but he has been crappy. And the 4th quarter defense has been predominately, the deep bench who "hopefully" will not be playing much in the playoffs. If they're playing 4th quarters in the playoffs, we are in trouble.

What about the last few games where the starters have damn near let teams shoot there way back into a game? I've noticed it more than just a few times this season.

I think everyone needs to tighten their defence

Last few games we actually played the teams even in the 4th. And thats with Sac hitting like 3 3's in a row at the end of the last game.

The last game we had a comfy lead and the bench hurt our spread was the Lakers game. 30 pt lead down to 20. Still a blowout win, but doesn't pad the stats as much. It has happened quite a bit. I also recall the Indy game where we were up some obscene amount and Indy came back. Now some of that was on the starters... but all the momentum was gained when our bench was in there.

That is why i say that the difference in differential can be explained by our deep bench playing crappy together. Our starters are pretty much the best in the league and with Iguodala, Livingston, and Ezeli (heck even Rush) mixed in with the starters we miss little. Sure we've had some defensive lapses, but the majority of the difference in stats is that when we're running Speights and Clark out there without any of the starters, we give up layups... a lot of them. This are based on my observations, if you have stats that say differently, i'll defer to that.

Statistically speaking they're playing better than us despite our record. I'm not worried but there are things worth discussing as the match ups are intriguing.

Their bench definitely is playing better than ours. Our bench has turned numerous 25+ games into 10 pt wins by Speights-ing it away. So if the statistic you are talking about is margin of victory, then i agree. But there is no better statistical indicator of play than Wins and Losses.

right now our bench is Livingston, Iguodala, HB, Buckets, and Festus. I'll take the Pepsi challenge to any other bench in the league.

That's not the team we throw out there with a 30 pt lead. Iguodala sits when we get massive leads. Festus has been sitting. Its more Clark, Rush, Mo Buckets (for you), and either Livingston, McAdoo (when healthy), Barnes, Barbosa (when healthy).

The reason we definitely should be concerned with the Spurs (and I don't mean fretting over them) because they were the only team in the league who won the season series against us last year during our remarkable run and have significantly upgraded their roster.

Should they be concerned with us too? You bet your sweep bippy. Any one who goes into a game against an exceptional team would be rather foolish to go into it too cocky. Just ask Cleveland, lol which by no means should we be scared or not lacking in our confidence in our ability to beat them.

We got this. We took them to 6 games in 2013 with The Caterpillar + a hobbled Steph + half-dead Bogut + no Iguodala.

Doesn't matter, they'll lose in 6 to the Jazz. Called it first. :D

I love this. The power rankings, everything. The reigning champions just put on the best first half in league history and they're still underdogs.

That's some $@%! to work off. Yeah -- piss 'em off, please. Give them a reason to hit the playoffs with a huge grudge.

I love it when people do this. Like the Dubs need any more motivation. Keep minimizing their achievements. Guess they'll l need a few more.

Ironic considering you'll probably never see the Raptors win a title in your lifetime.

Oh look, a troll from Canada, how international...

The Spurs are no joke, granted. It's a big mountain to climb. In a seven game series, I like our chances.
With everyone healthy, I like our chances even more. Coaching will play a HUGE role in this one.
Their twin towers vs our death lineup. Who flinches first?

If anyone in the NBA is going to beat the Spurs, it's the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. Only team up to the task.
Anyone saying the Spurs are going dominate or that this series will not go to 6-7 games has not been watching either team this year.
It will be a battle.

First of all...define slap. Because they should have slapped yo momma harder when you got your womb release.

Second of all. You can't hashtag FACTS for things that haven't occurred. So that tells me a lot about you right off the bat.

We might get beat by the Spurs, but we went in to San Antonio 3 years ago and won, and should have won another if not for a miracle Ginoblili shot. And that was with Curry on a bad ankle, Bogut on a bad ankle, Barnes getting dumped on his head, and David Lee. The point is, our teams winning is no joke, and if anything you sound like a bitter Raptors fan because we've spanked you guys for a couple years now.

Not sure what compels a guy to come to another teams site and then drop no knowledge at all?

Good luck my friend....you seem like you need it.

Cavs lost to less fully healthy Warriors and are not getting younger. The East is getting tougher. Warriors are just entering their prime.

The Spurs still rely on old guard Parker, Duncan and Ginobli.

Warriors and Spurs will be interesting plus Spurs have never won back to back so their should be chances for the Warriors who barring injury have a big championship window with rising cap and young championship talent.

turk3d wrote:Don't forget OKC either at this point. Two more mountains to climb (3 if you consider Cleveland in the East) one a smaller one than the other. As we saw this last game, if both Klay and Steph are on, we can beat anyone. I think Dray will matchup well with Aldridge. Question is: can Barnes and Iggy handle Kahwi? Bogut does well against Dun can when healthy and Ezeli will help as well. Our advantage will be the 3 ball even though SAS can hit them as well, just not as well imo. Coaching will also be a factor. Kerr will have to be at his best. Looking forward to that matchup.

the Spurs are very good. If we LOSE games.. likely it's road trips to San Antonio. Meanwhile.. Spurs ain't bulletproof as a road team.

Healthy...I quite believe GSW can SWEEP all home games. GSW is ahead toward top seed. That means SOME team has to get a win at Oracle. :D SO FAR....GSW has been able to grind out wins even if NOT looking like they can.
CENSORED... No comment.
