Yeah, his shooting is a major concern but IF he can get his percentages up he will be a monster in the NBA. He has elite size and athleticism, he is a playmaker with a good handle, plays great man and team defense and finally the guy has an insane motor.

I kind of like garuba better. Provides rebounding and shot blocking with the versatile defense. Can make some passes. Can’t handle the ball as well as Barnes but I wouldn’t want Barnes as a primary playmaker anyway.

I like Garuba too but he looks like a 4/5 to me and Barnes is more of a wing who can guard 1-5.

Barnes will essentially be a 5 because he can’t shoot either but he doesn’t rebound and isn’t as good of a shot blocker as garuba.

Hey guys, would it be time for us to discuss our top 15 big board?

I know everyone has Cade, Mobley, Green and Suggs, in some order, as their top 4, far and away.

But what about the other players? How's your 6-10, 11-15 range going?

Post your big boards so we can compare and discuss.

ok finally gonna weigh in

I'm not even gonna rank the top 5 because they aren't possible.. I said it early and often, the whole narrative about getting #4 was setting us up to be disappointed.

So lets say we start at #6, with Cade/Green/Suggs/Mobley/Kuminga off the board... here's my board for the W's:

1) Moses Moody - he's got Klay traits but does so with Rip Hamilton range. By far my favorite. But man, we sure wouldnt need him if we drafted Gary Trent Jr, and no, I'm still not over it, **** you

2) Corey Kispert - sensing a trend? I want a good shooting wing. He's among the best. Higher floor, lower upside. I get McDermott / Hield vibes from him. But that means low 'bust' potential, but also low 'star' potential

3) Daivon Mitchell - I want to be very clear about how little I care about the gurus **** on this kid. He's good. The problem is he's not a combo guard, he's a scoring PG, but calling him a PG is very generous as well. He's basically a 6th man as a peak, unless he can channel Steve Nash and really work on his PnR game. That said, I'd imagine if he did fix his PnR game, he could be an impact lead guard. Bad fit for our switch heavy defense too. But I love the upside

4) Kai Jones - feeling risky? I am, considering who's in the 6-10 range currently. He could be a Channing Frye type, or he could be more of a JJJ. But you arent getting much defensively from him and he's very raw. Still, as a fit, I like him worlds better than Wiseman. I'd really only like Kai if we traded Wiseman

DO NOT DRAFT @ #6

Scottie Barnes - we're told he might be the next Draymond. Well.. Draymond works great here because of someone like Steph. So unless we have the next Steph in waiting in Jordan Poole (as resident Poole homer, I  at this) there's really no reason to get the next Draymond.

Zaire Williams - first off, he went to Stanford. Secondly, he can't hit a jumper to save his life. It isn't very often that lanky wings that cant shoot become worthy of early/mid lotto selections, and I dont feel froggy about this guy. Also, Stanford.

Keon Johnson - again, wings who cant shoot well. I got strong Livingston vibes watching him play, but want to reiterate that Livingston was a luxury for us, not a necessity, and wasnt a huge impact piece.

At 14, here are a few guys I like:

- Josh Giddey: love taller players that can handle, but how will his shot/defense fare in the NBA?
- Johnny Juzang: awesome name, great shooter. But if we take a shooter at 6-8, probably not a good choice
- Jeremiah Robinson-Earl: would fit well with us defensively (versatile)... Not much length. But vicious rebounder. Textbook small-ball C
- Charles Bassey: probably too early to pick here, but like Daniel Gafford (who like Trent, I'm not bitter at all about missing out on), is a good fit for our C position

And ones to avoid:
- Josh Christopher: I'm still a pac12 junkie and this guy reeks of being a chucker. I thought he looked a lot like Jennings when he played us. Shot well from 3 but my god, the shot selection was ass
- Franz Wagner: slooooooooow

Interesting upside types:
- Jalen Johnson: if you think his shooting is legit, he's a steal. I don't though
- Usman Garuba: vids show some good touch around the rim, but largely an unknown for me. Didnt see much perimeter skill, or off the charts athleticism. But he's in the teens in mocks. Not sure why but there has to be a reason beyond the touch inside the paint.. right?
- A. Sengun: videos make him look good, which is rare.

Thats a good comp as well.. I cant recall how well Mobley moved without the ball, but that part of his game is why I'm in love

Jalen Johnson is intriguing but he’s really raw as well. I think he left duke because coach k was going to him less and less.

Garuba is a small ball center with an elite motor and defensive impact. His impact numbers are off the charts for a 19 year old for Real Madrid.

Your 14 picks outside of giddey seem like 2nd rd picks.

Giddey probably the one I like least too

Bassey and Robinson will rise, bet on it... Juzang I don’t know, but he’s a smart kid with a great jumper. The projected teens on draft sites is a who’s who of I’d want to avoid

Hell I saw that Givony had Moody 25th overall on his board and 12th in the draft. Narratives change quickly once the workouts start

Robinson - Earl is the type of player that is a solid find in the 2nd rd an upperclassman that's just solid all around. I doubt he'll go in the 1st just because of his age and lack of perceived upside.

If there's a sleeper pick, I'm going to say it's this guy:

Name: Filip Petrusev

Height: 6'11"

Natural Position: PF/C

Likely Position: Role player/Stretch 5 and needed inside scoring

Build: Athletic, but also possesses offensive low-post skills.

Achievements: Named 2021 MVP of the ABA League.

Style: Plays like a traditional center, but has an evolving outside shot (After leaving Gonzaga a couple months ago, decided to play in two international leagues and averaged 41% and 57% on 2-3 attempts from beyond the arc, respectively). Can play above the rim due to his athleticism, pick and roller and evolving popper, and can score inside via drop-steps, floaters, up-and-unders, showcase what he could do if given consistent minutes. Can attack the basket. Though passing isn't part of his offensive repertoire, he's shown patience in the post to gauge/look for teammates cutting or getting to their spots on the perimeter. He needs to improve as a defender and won't be a premiere shot-blocker at the next level. Perimeter defense will be an issue due to moderate lateral quickness.

Game/Player Comparison: A more athletic Enes Kanter, equipped with low-post skills, and with range. If he can improve his playmaking and battle for positional rebounding = Nikola Jokic

I really want Giddey. That kind of playmaking is desperately what we need with the second unit.

After the top 4 players who would all have gone #1 last year the next tier is huge and I don't remember a draft with as much potential in the top 20. But we also have less data that "normal" years. It's certainly going to be interesting.

And I still hope for #1 and #4 :)

And we definitely need some scoring/shooting. This season showed our bench’s inability to produce consistently and heavily relied on Curry (Ranked 16th for bench scoring, so half decent.).

Defense will be tested (limited), but I’d get Corey Kispert with our #14 (Probably will be gone a few spots earlier though) simply for scoring/shooting. Or, get Louis Williams via MLE.

My (backup) dream scenario (assuming the Warriors don't get #1 or #4) with the Warriors at #6 and #14 I'd go Moody and Giddey and the "young" unit is:

Poole
Moody
Giddey
JTA/Paschall
Wiseman

I'd like for us to go for Moody too, but what's Justinian Jessup's status? Is he or will he be on a two-way contract?

We'd have too many SGs: Thompson, Poole, Lee, Mulder, Jessup, and possibly Moody?

That #6 pick is tough ... I'm projecting Mulder to be gone, Jessup likely on a 2-way or another year in Oz, and Lee on the bubble.

To me Poole is a combo guard not a 2 like Moody, and Klay isn't getting younger. I would rather get a wing bigger than Moody that can play 2/3/4 and be a good shooter/offensive player but right there in the draft that's a hard combo to find (assuming Kuminga and Cade are gone), and that with the #14 there are lesser players that do fit that size/skill target.

Rookie 4s and 5s seldom contribute in a big way to winning as rookies and wings and guards taken in the first half of the first round do a lot more often so it's better to go that way for the tail end of the vets prime.

I think of him like a Robert Williams type.. minus the looney tunes nonsense. Williams was a late 1st (after projected to be a mid-1st) so I think Robinson-Earl falls in that range when its all said and done. I think he's a plug-and-play type who can provide quality minutes when he joins the league, because he's so versatile on defense and well-rounded as a player. On a team like ours, it would give him an opportunity to improve in non-scoring areas as well.

what are everyones thoughts on Isaiah Jackson?

Feels like he's getting slept on a bit due to Kentucky being such a disaster, but he's got serious potential as a Claxton/Noel type of shot blocker that is mobile enough to switch when needed. Obviously he's got no bulk and will get bullied by the top centers, but could be a great "center by committee" candidate.

If JRE could extend his range out to 3 he'd be great. Very versatile defensively. 14 just seems a bit high considering his upside isn't great. Though if he'd be able to shoot 3s 14 wouldn't be bad.

I think I'd rather go Trey Murphy 6'9'' elite shooter long arms and can defend 2-4.
