Re: Game 24: Dubs @ Cavs, 2025-12-06, 4:30pm PT
Some takeaways from the last three games, and I don't know if Kerr or Dunleavy have identified it or will put it into action.
1.) The defense holds up better when Kerr is forced to play an actual center instead of Dray.
2.) Santos is proving we are better off playing a physical 6-8 forward at power forward than playing four guards, we matchup better.
3.) Pat Spencer has proven your point guard has to be a threat getting downhill or your offense can't function at a high level.
I am not even talking about counting stats. I am talking about can the guys you have on the floor physically do the positional task. Post/TJD/Santos/Spencer they are all backup caliber guys, not the peak of NBA individual talent but they can do the positional tasks. Post and TJD held up on drives even if the blocks aren't counted. Gui bodied up on defense and boxed out even if he had to let someone else get the rebound. Spencer got downhill and had the opposing defense scrambling and generated a lot of hockey assists.

It is frustrating, you would think he understands what wins. But instead he still focused on his one on one game which is trash. All summer he practiced against his trainers and we knew it would work.AirP. wrote:northoakland510 wrote:Kuminga probably didn't deserve that. That dude is bad at basketball. How is it that less talented players get in and have no issues In the offense?AirP. wrote:Kuminga and Podz only get 21 minutes each tonight.

That's easy, they give more effort and play within their skill sets.

Spencer has attitude and a fire within him, luckily, he hung onto his NBA dream long enough to finally be good enough to contribute to winning. Good thing he has time left on his 2-way for GS to do a trade to open up a roster spot for him. I have a feeling the last 4 signings for very little money... Horford, Melton, Seth and hopefully Spencer will contribute more to winning then some of the b-tier players on this roster.

I don’t know if they defended so well or the Cavs shat the bed except for Mitchell, who couldn’t miss in the second half.
Fun game though.
Team didn’t light it up but collectively they’re shooting better than they have been.

Santos +/-0. JK +5.
Shows the value of individual game +/-.

It's a horrible single game stat although you can expect it to round out to a decent stat throughout the whole season.

Kerr had been making that excuse. So no one cares. So we shouldn't care either.

Scrappy win!
Very smart foul by GPII... he must've learned that from Draymond.
Pat Spencer earned the start and took advantage of the opportunity.
QP was balling, no?
Anderson Varejão bobblehead is cool! Too bad he wasn't there to get it but I wonder if Gui grabbed one.

So, not that this season or this win really matters, but this is why i wanted Spencer as the 13th guy. Steph is going to miss games and Pat is quite decent for a 13th man.

I watched the NBA TV broadcast. The Cavs announcers were making fun of the Dubs' "offense" in the first quarter -- "They just dribble around and pass to each other on the perimeter." Yup. They followed up a 10-point Q1 with a 12-point Q1. When was the last time anybody saw that?
Thank God it got better. Spencer played the game of his life. BTW: JK 1-10 tonight. Yikes.
