Moses Brown, 2019 draft. Has played NBA games in each off the last 3 years.
I get confused, can 3rd year guys sign 2 way contracts?

Cut Chioza sign Moses Brown to a 2 way and if it works out give him a playoff roster spot by cutting Damion Lee.
If any of our shooters get injured Damion Lee has a role so then maybe cut JTA.
But can't we find somebody to bang for 5 minutes a game to give Looney a rest?

Moses Brown is eligible for a two way contract. Mavs may bring him back as a two way. Maybe the Warriors can entice him with the possibility of being converted to a regular contract for the playoffs.

Moses Brown has a greater desire to rebound than Wiseman has shown and better instincts for rebounding. I read that the downside on Moses Brown is that he is clueless and goes to the wrong locations. He is big, and has some muscle. He is not as immobile as Tacko Fall.

He might make a good workout partner for Wiseman. Cut Chiozza and sign him now if you can. Robin Lopez may not be bought out. If all goes wrong at center, cut Damion Lee later and give Brown a playoff roster spot.

Word is that Moses Brown has the potential to be a good starting center a few years from now but for now he is too raw to even get playing time. Warriors can take 5 minutes a game of stupid rebounder now. Moses can rim run and put up points.

Want a veteran. Then sign Favors. Waiting for Robin Lopez could be a mistake because other teams are looking for big men and Lopez may not be bought out.

Warriors must really believe in Wiseman. Otherwise they would have at least signed a two way young center to replace Chioozza

The only thing I believe about Wiseman right now is that he can be 7 feet tall. Which is a start but there's a long way between that and being able to play him 15 minutes in high pressure playoff games. I want to stay hopeful but it's getting so late in the year and he's missed soooo much time, I just don't think it's realistic to expect a big jump in usefulness, even if he can stay healthy.

So people are concerned about Wiseman getting enough experience and time to contribute, but the alternative is bringing in a discount big who is new to the team and the organization, then expecting them to contribute as much in the same amount of time?

Okay.

Well yeah. A NBA vet would have less problems fitting in and contributing than a 20yo who has played c amount of games. Obviously the vet needs to understand their role.

Wiseman hasn’t played in a game since April.

Here's the thing - no they wouldn't. Most Cs, especially the ones suggested on this board, have never played in a system like ours. They have never been asked to switch and stay. Wiseman, for all his inexperience, has ONLY had this system beaten into his head over the past 2 years. Significant advantage to him on that.

There is no C on the market who can come in and help right away. Maybe if Chriss gets cut loose, we can try that. But other than that, there are no realistic options that will help. Favors is the new name being thrown around, and he is awful on the switch. RoLo way too slow, Kanter makes RoLo look like Monta.. etc etc

There's no word that Moses Brown has that potential. He was just waived off a 4 year, 6m contract that had tons of options. That's basically a rookie contract, and it would cost nothing. And every single team passed on him.

He's not some hidden gem if teams won't take him on the non guaranteed league minimum for 3+ years.

If his downside is that he's clueless.. why would we want a 7' Oubre here?

We were successful with ZaZa Pachulia as our starting center. We just need a big with 6 fouls that can play 15-20mpg and be physical, rebound and set hard screens. People forget quickly that Zaza was a center for us.

True, but Zaza had 3+ months to learn the system before the season.

Were looking for a big man to rebound, box out, take fouls and play decent defense. that's it.

Wiseman is rumored to be returning within a week and as of now there are no centers on the buyout market. Even if one were to become available the Warriors would need to cut one of JTA or DLee. I don't think they will cut Belly because it would send a message to future FA who might want to choose GS over another team.

It all comes down to Draymond anyway. If he cannot return to form this season then everything else is moot.

There's a lot wrong with this way of thinking and its frustrating, because its like the people who want these tall stiffs will only choose the threads where its not being said, despite being in the threads where its explained. But ok.

When Zaza was C
- we switched far less than we do now (and recovered far more)
- we had prime Curry/Klay/KD/Draymond
- our defense was better with the death squad defense (all switching) than the standard Malone defense

So the Warriors thought.. why do we need to go with these slower guys like Zaza, Cousins, Speights and West.. when our defense is best when we're switching heavily and missing less rotations on recovery? And when Looney proved he could be that guy who was big enough but still could handle himself without needing a switch, we leaned that direction. So much so that when we do have a relatively stiff defender in Nemo, we still ask him to play that same style.

And that's important because, if you do bring a Zaza to this team, you aren't just needing to teach him how to play with us. You'd also have to re-teach the team to play with a non-switching big, because none of them have done it outside of our big 3, and we aren't bringing in a stiff to play with them.

You guys need to stop pretending that Cs and players are interchangeable in this system. Being hellbent on fixing one problem while creating 2 new ones is a bad way to do things.

Jordan Bell has been with the team twice. He played with Santa Cruz. He's been a fine GLeaguer. He knows the system, even if he doesn't play it that well. He rebounds and blocks shots. Shoots almost 80% on FTs and 4 assists per game.

Even though I like Bell, there are dozens of reasons to NOT bring him back. I get it.

For every reason not to bring someone like Bell back, there are 5 reasons to not grab Tacko Fall or some old stiff. Also, I agree that it would be hard to play Zaza on this team, and Zaza was twice the player any of the guys suggested here.

100%

I very much dislike Bell as a player because of his lack of consistent BBIQ. But he would be a much better option to bring in than anyone else suggested. He's probably the best example that I mean - someone who's an uninspiring name, but helps us more than other teams because of his unique skillset and our unique system. Just like GP2 / JTA

Off Season:

Wiggins for Barnes and Holmes
or
Wiggins & 1st for Williamson and trash

Kuminga will need more minutes and I don't GSW retaining Wiggins after the end of next season. Let's hope he wins a Championship this year and move on.

I love that Barnes + Holmes trade.

I love Holmes' energy and his flip shot.

The Barnes + Holmes trade would go a long ways to improving our size issue. Also Barnes could partly make up for when / if we lost OPJr. Thats a nice idea. It also would make me more onboard with taking a youngster with our 1st rather than trading it away.

If we were to do that, are you thinking of replacing Belly with another big or another wing? How do you see Barnes? I see Barnes as more of a OPJr replacement (more PF than SF) even though he would probably start at the 3 for us. Anyways, should be an interesting offseason.

I would not do that Wiggins for Barnes/Holmes trade.

Wiggins is better than Barnes and is more versatile position-wise. He fits our team much better, especially with Kuminga being the same position as Barnes.

I also don't really understand why we need Holmes at 12m a year. We have Wiseman and can re-sign Looney to a reasonable deal.

Only way Wiggins should be traded is if its for an all-star player and we are packaging Wiggins with some of our young players.
