My favorite undervalued player is Elijah Hughes. He's going to open some eyes next year. Warriors would be smart to pick him up. Right now projected to go anywhere from 25 to 45.

You know what, I don't want warriors to draft Wiseman. They are not going to play him enough minutes and are not going to play through his mistakes which will botch his development. I hope they trade down for a good offer and not change and draft Desmond Bane
Hope celtics or spurs get him

I just do not see a reason to draft these small guards and tweener wings, when the team needs legit size.

Toppin really fits with warriors system and he can also play small ball 5.
adding toppin with wiggins, boom just added much more altheticism, and not a net negative on D.
You seem alone in thinking Toppin plays defense let alone good defense.

The argument would be:
1. There are cheap functional sized vets available.
2. There is only one big who has reasonable value at #2.
3. The Warriors are still suffering from the loss of Iguodala and Livingston, long wings with high BBIQ.

2. I do not think you pass up Wiseman talent to get a vet and a backup point guard or forward.
3. Those guys were seasoned vets when they got here. I doubt a rookie in this draft gives you the production they did.

What long wings will be available as cheap vets? Two way wings are the most coveted players in the NBA and for good reason. You gotta draft these guys.

Yes and no. They may not deliberately tell them, but things leak out and a few times it's true. We can also figure things out by the things the organization is doing. That may not be as easy to conceal.
Anyway, what about the All-Star, Bust, and Superstar theory of drafting near the top?
It won't be for every draft, but we've seen it happen enough. The Warriors were fortunate to get one with Draymond and now Eric Paschall in the 2nd round, but usually those things don't happen. It happens toward the top of the draft.
So which one of the consensus, i.e. Wiseman, LaMelo, and Edwards, will be the All-Star, Bust, and Superstar?
ETA: For example, in 2019, we had Zion, Ja Morant, and RJ Barrett. Can you tell which one is the All-Star, Bust, and Superstar?
For 2018, we had DeAndre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III, and Luka Doncic, which one is the All-Star, Bust, and Superstar?

Jae Crowder, Derrick Jones, Kent Bazemore, Glenn Robinson Jr, Alec Burks, Justin Holiday. I am not opposed to drafting wing players, I just wouldn't do with the #2 pick if Wiseman is there.

I was looking at the recent past drafts and some are very, very, very interesting in terms of All-Star, Bust, and Superstar...
2017 NBA Draft: Markelle Fultz Lonzo Ball, Jayson Tatum (selected to at least one All-Star game)
2016 NBA Draft: Ben Simmons (selected to at least one All-Star game and All-NBA team), Brandon Ingram (selected to at least one All-Star game), Jaylen Brown
2015 NBA Draft: Karl Anthony-Towns (selected to at least one All-Star game and All-NBA team), D'Angelo Russell (selected to at least one All-Star game), Jahlil Okafor, Kristaps Prozingis (selected to at least one All-Star game)
2014 NBA Draft: Andrew Wiggins (ROY), Jabari Parket, Joel Embiid (selected to at least one All-Star game and All-NBA team)

I'd like to get Derrick Jones on a cheap contract, even on minimum.

I specifically mean the guys that have the length and strength to make it hard on guys like Lebron, Kawhi, KD, Butler, PG, Tatum and Ingram.
I get that finding someone to do the same on AD is also desirable but in that group you have AD, Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, maybe Kristaps but he's a far more limited offensive player.
There aren't as many offensively dynamic bigs as there are wings and some of those guys, like Giannis and AD, I would be pretty comfortable assigning a wing to regardless.
Of the guys you mentioned Jae Crowder is a nice player but I am highly skeptical we can get him for the mini-MLE. Derrick Jones has the size and is worth a flier on but Spoelstra's never trusted him to play big minutes and the rest are just too small to credibly defend the biggest, most skilled wings.

I think you can develop a big like Wiseman and still add wings in the second round or free agency. I know the Warriors have their formula, but it could use some tweaking. If Wiseman can stay on the floor when the Lakers go small that is a game changer.

Wiseman won't be able to stay on the floor as a rookie. There probably isn't a single rookie big that will be useful defensively come crunch time. Not Okungwu, not Precious, probably not even Paul Reed. But with that said, I think the place to grab a flier big is in the late 1st round or 2nd round. In the last two years Boston got Robert Williams and New York got Mitchell Robinson in that range. Whiteside and DeAndre Jordan were both late picks. The athletic rim runner types can be found deep in the draft.

Re: 2020 Draft Thread, Part 2
Long article but a good one on Warriors making a trade for the #2 because of luxury tax ramifications. It reminds me of the Forbes writer. Of course, they could end up not finding a good enough trade, so they make the pick. They're one of the teams in the hunt for Jrue Holiday. Can the #2 and Wiggins get a deal done for Jrue? Would you give up the #2 for Jrue?

1. I don't see them at comparable level to the bigs and there are more minutes available on the wing than at center. The wing position value has skyrocketed since 2013. Look at the money an ancient Iguodala is able to demand.
2. Okay.
3. True.
I was just giving the reasons people are using for their thinking.

I didn't get much response on my All-Star, Bust, Superstar theory posts, but a guy I met online has created a youtube for 2020 NBA Draft.

Draft Wiseman or trade the pick for a legit star. These are the only 2 options I’m interested in.
