What do you think about Marquesse Chriss?
He was good, if I remember well, the time he played for Warriors until he got injured and waived

Re: More Free Agent Talk
I would rank available bigs as follows:
1) Howard - Guy is by far the best defender, can still control a paint on defense and body up guys. He just can't do anything outside the paint on defense anymore. I think his ability on defense is where Bogut was his last stint, but without the floor vision and passing.
2) Aldridge - Big body, can still hit jumpers and do things on the interior. Pick n pop, maybe David West at absolute best.
3) Hernangomez - He's a power forward and not a center. Can still move like a young guy unlike the other guys. Would basically be like bringing back Jerebko who was an okay fit.
4) Cousins - Guy is all offense and no defense. He can't stick because as incredibly skilled as he is he can only play half court offensive ball at this point.
5 ) Trevion Williams - Guy can flat out screen and pass, he's a Warriors type center.

Dwight Howard will actually bring the bench alive again and he has enough defense left in him to play in spot minutes. He played 16mpg 2021-2022. He can be used in stints where we have our second unit to at least clog the paint.
Role playing Veterans is the key to another championship.

Aldridge is the only one that would make any sense, but doubtful he'd be able to hold up in the playoffs so probably not. I'd look at RHJ. Just get me a lockdown defender. But it seems more likely that Lamb gets the 15th spot than bringing in anyone new.

Re: More Free Agent Talk
Just for fun, threw GP2 into something called a random forest machine learning model. Basically, I threw in some advanced stats and tracking stats, and told the model to find players who profile the closest to GP2's year with us last year (I also averaged in his past 2 seasons because running it just on his Warriors season gave some pretty crazy results)
Anyways long story short, 2 available players popped up in the top 15: Michael Kidd Gilchrist (4th) and Josh Jackson (15th). Jackson is a bonafide idiot, but MKG.. rugged defender, slasher, can't really shoot except for the corner 3, bounced around a bunch of teams despite his BBIQ, and he's now 29, the same age GP2 was last year. Would be a really interesting pickup, only problem is that MKG might be entirely done with basketball. He's been MIA since 2020, working on his non-profit.
I'm just saying... lotta parallels

I think MKG could work if he wanted to play still

Gorgui dieing just got released. He's a perfect fit as a low maintenance big with size.

Maybe on a 10 day contract until they get the troops back.

Re: More Free Agent Talk
Dieng seems like a better version of what we want JMG to be for us. Definitely worth a 10 day to see how he fits.
Maybe we can get Dieng and Covington on buyouts... the two guys I originally wanted in the D-Lo trade lol (still loved the wiggins trade)

How do you create the roster spots though?
And they need to convert Lamb or Jerome or both of them.
Thing is, Warriors tend to be loyal at least through the season. They keep Chiozza and also guys like Lee and Cook instead of looking for buyouts or trades or waiver wire pickups to see if they could do better.
So they may be less likely even to say cut JMG to add someone like Dieng.

Re: More Free Agent Talk
Ha thought the same thing and came to the same conclusion. Think he fits what we need, but isn't a surefire fit. 10 day would be great, but we can't make that happen without cutting someone and IMO that 15th spot is reserved for one of the 2 way guys.

Re: More Free Agent Talk
There's no need to convert the two-way guys until the end of the season. They can cut down the number of games they're playing as wounded troops return, so they don't hit 50 too early. If they want to try Dieng sign him to a 10 day in the 15th spot.

Re: More Free Agent Talk
Dwight Howard looks like he can still play.
And in November Dwight was talking like he wanted to play for the Warriors.
He seems to still have some fire in him for good and for bad.
I was rooting for the Celtics when they beat Dwight Howard and the Magic.
When the Magic were beaten Wight tried to injure Celtics with body checks and hard moving screens.
Warriors are not a mean team and the Warriors might benefit from some meanness.
Dwight talked about wanting to teach Wiseman. Dwight showed respect for Looney. Is Dwight able to handle being a role player.
I think I would rather play Dwight Howard than Wiseman or JMG.
But Dwight has a reputation of being a locker room cancer. If we sign Dwight / buy him out of his Taiwanese contract and Dwight plays well enough we can cut JMG and sign Lamb to a regular contract so Lamb can play in the playoffs.

Re: More Free Agent Talk
After waiving him, the Spurs have signed Dieng back on a 10 day contract. Since his $2.6M salary was locked in, he'll get paid twice, making another $150k for his 10 days.
