If we dont get Wiseman, I want Baynes. Baynes can shoot the 3 and is a legit aircraft carrier.

I am on board with Baynes if we don't get Wiseman. Baynes is a solid screen setter which is so important for Steph and Klay, plus the pick n pop ability adds a great dimension. I trust that Baynes is a guy who can make and will make the extra pass which is everything stylistically for us.

I think a really high collective bball IQ across the floor is our route to winning this thing again.

Baynes works for me too. Not afraid to get physical, smart, and can shoot.

Funny thing is I posted somewhere the Warriors should pluck him up just before the Heat did. I saw him in the D-league and it was clear he had figured it out. He was never great and the Heat wildly overpaid him, but it would have been fun to have him for a few years there.

He's always been a fairly selfish stat hunting player who doesn't play the game smart, but I'd still take him. If he's a problem they can just not play him until he gets it together.

It would be nice to add a defensive anchor next to Green. Whiteside can help erase bad perimeter defense and allow Green & Klay to tighten up out there.

The pitch would have to be winning a championship and a chance at DPOY with our roster. Then get your big check.

Whiteside is a terrible team defender; he can’t defend the pick-and-roll, and he gets out of position regularly chasing highlight tell blocks. His teams are always better defensively when he’s off the floor.

This isn’t to say that he doesn’t have some value, but if the idea is that he’ll help the defense, that’s misguided.

I could just see Draymond getting into a fight with Whiteside on the court over a blown rotation. "What the f*** are you doing here? Are you f***ing stupid?"

The Baynes option is probably the most realistic center in free agency. Gasol and Ibaka probably stay in Toronto or are out of our price range. Baynes is a good pro and most importantly, he’ll be cheaper than Wiseman would be as a top 3 pick.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on Baynes, hes my guy. But Wiseman is the pick if he's there, and would be a cornerstone for the franchise.

It may be worth mentioning, but there is an Aussie connection with Bogut and Baynes to help the cause along. I have no doubt that Bob would speak with Bogut about Aaron, and Bogez would give the tick of approval I'm sure. We've had great success with a tough double hard Aussie manning the middle, and Baynes is cut from the same cloth. It's a decent option if we miss on the Wise Man.

I too think Gasol will stay in Toronto. But maybe there’s a chance we can sell him on the beautiful California weather! Toronto gets unbearable during the Winter. Just going outside and walking 10 feet you’ll get frostbite lol.

We'd be back-logged with too many PFs and Cs. Should we look to trade them for positions of need? Maybe trade Looney and/or Marquese Chriss for a mid-to-late rounder?

If the Warriors add Baynes that would bring the total number of bigs on the roster up to 6, two of whom are only 6'6"ish in height in Green and Paschall. I wouldn't call that "too many". I would expect the final number of bigs to be 6 or 7, not 5.

Well our interior defensive numbers ranked towards the bottom of the NBA. We just couldn't rebound or protect the paint. Looney is a good switch defender and understands our system but he is a career 14mpg guy. Assuming Draymond gets 4-6 minutes of small ball that leaves 28-30mpg to Chriss. Chriss is a good energy guy but he's also undersized for a center. I think we need a real 7 footer to body guys up, clog the lane on defense, and sets screens like Bogut and Zaza had.

I wouldn't underestimate the value of a great center defender, if we have someone who can help Draymond agitate other teams and muscle up on them that would go a long way. I felt Draymond was overworked covering for guys on defense this year. I liked it better when Bogut directed traffic and anchored the paint so Draymond could free roam and disrupt the other team.

1) Green - Our starting 4 and 5 down the stretch.
2) Paschall - Good offensive player. Really good mid-range shot. Needs to rebound more.
3) Chriss - Good role player. Needs to be more assertive/consistent.
4) Looney - Another good role player. But, his hip/health issues are becoming a concern?
5) Smiley - Still won’t be ready to contribute meaningful minutes now that we’ll have a full squad back.

Of those 5 frontcourt players, IMO, only 2 will and have contributed to the team. I’d include Looney, but his health/injuries are concerning going forward.

I didn't say we didn't need better bigs. I was refuting Adonal's position that 6 bigs on the roster was "too many".

Yes, we do have "too many" bigs AND better bigs, haha -- And when I say bigs, I'm talking in the traditional sense with the 4 and 5 positions (But, since we're talking about the modern lineup of teams today, we'll include the 3 then.).

With exception of Green and Paschall (Maybe Wiggins, too; Depending on his adaptability to flourish in this motion offense system), the issue for me is with who we currently have in the frontcourt. Do you guys really believe Chriss, Looney, and Smiley can get it done in the frontcourt 2nd unit and contribute meaningful minutes to impact the game? Chriss' drive/motor is too inconsistent, Looney seems to always have some kind of health/injury, and Smiley is just still too raw/green. It's hard to believe that this classy organization will settle for mediocrity. I expect them to do an overhaul of our frontcourt using a combo of our 2020 draft picks (Future draft picks, if needed), $17 mil TPE, and our $5 mil Tax MLE.

Get to work, Myers and Co!

Yes, they need to get better. And no, none of the Warriors 3s should be considered "bigs".

I expect them to add 1 or 2 bigs this offseason at least. I think they will not dump Smiley or Chriss and only move on from Looney if he proves he can't get reasonably healthy, though we don't really know if he was injured last year as bad as they made it look.

The good part about Looneys contract is its easy to move. Depending on how he is moving we could attach 2nd rounders with his contract around the deadline to get a contributor.

PREFERRED RESULT:

Crowder - Vet Minimum (Probably unreliastic, unless he wants a ring)
Bertans - MLE (Had a great season, will most likely be to expensive for the W's)
Barton - TPE (Would not give up a significant draft pick to get this done)

Wiseman - Draft

But if this was the result of those available options, then I'd be pumped.

This also does not take into consideration of what may happen to Wiggins and next years pick.

I don’t hate it.

PREFERRED RESULT: *Im dreaming*

Draft: ?????

MLE: Aron Baynes

TPE: Josh Richardson & Austin Rivers

Vet Min: Justin Holiday

Curry/Rivers, Bowman
Klay/Holiday, Poole,
Wiggins/Richardson, Lee
Draymond/Paschall, Smiley
Quese/Baynes

I’m fine with departing with Smiley somehow, our 2 second rounders, Mulder. I would trade Looney for Rivers even.

I don’t know about the draft. I like a lot of the young guys for our future: Wiseman, Onyeka, Lamelo, Okoro, Hayes, etc. but not sure who will help us best next season best tbh.

Don't think much of Crowder anymore, and Rivers never.
