i have to say that he might be way more useful of the bench than pat mccaw. cook is fearless on offense, can create his own shot and make a 3, mccaw can do none of these things.

Had a very good game but he's going to have to have more of those games to get on the playoffs roster.

He's still a defensive liability, unlike McCaw.

And he is going to have problems finishing at the rim, as he had a crucial layup attempt blocked in the fourth quarter.

He needs to at least be able to draw fouls in those situations.

His previous game was good too. I rewatched the game and he rolled out 4 or 5 shots. They could have just as easily gone down. Still ended up in double firgures.

He';s gaining confidence, which is what I said he needed to do. Have a little patience sometimes you dummies.

I'm sure McCaw is going to get playing time ahead of Cook, if he's even on the playoff roster.

McCaw has at least a chance to defend while Cook will force the team to double his man.

dude is a 3rd string PG at best.......at least he is willing to shoot the damn ball when he has a shot. half the roster is playing hot potato when they get the **** ball. i respect Cook's confidence and willingness to take shots---to me, it's gravy if they're going in

He's an undersized shooting guard who has a good stroke but needs wide open look.

Can't really create for himself or run an offense.

Nor can he defend any kind of guard with ability.

He will be useful in right situations but we'll see if he can be at least as effective as Clark was with regular 15-20 minutes a game.

Ill bet you right now that he will have a better career than Clark. He can definitely create for himself and others, plus we play a system, not iso slop ball.

But he's a scorer who can shoot. He plays decent enough team defense. And with our passing there is always an open shot to be had.

It's ok you're way off on him. Most of you guys are wrong all the time. It's why I'm a legend.

Cook isn't cutting it

Post#35 » by Flash Falcon X » Sun Mar 18, 2018 5:36 am

I don’t get the debate about Cook vs McCaw.

Play Cook at the 1 and McCaw at the 2.

You can even put McCaw and the three and play Livingston at the 2, allowing Livingston to post up down low and let Cook and McCaw stretch the floor. Iggy at the 4 for a late 2nd quarter version of a death line-up.

If Cook steps up and McCaw bounces back then that’s a win-win situation with no compromises. It’s a good problem to have if both guys are playing well. Bench depth is key in the Playoffs despite the expectation of smaller rotations.

I will say this.

With Casspi injured, Cook may end up on the playoffs roster.

And he's getting looks from 3 that Casspi hasn't -- really bewildering too.

Casspi, for all of his strengths in cutting isn't looking for his outside shot at all and I think the fact that it takes like 2 seconds from catch until release is part of the reason for that. I think we think he's more of a 3pt shooter than he actually is due that crazy shootout he had with Steph some years ago. Cook is absolutely killing it since this thread was posted though. Very nice to see.

Then again, these last two high-scoring games for Cook were against Sacto and Phoenix, two of the worst defenses in the league.

He was getting WIDE OPEN looks.

Now if he's playing at the same time as KD and Klay, he might still get some WIDE OPEN looks. But he and Young were the main scoring threats for large parts of these games and these bad defenses let them have good looks.
