These players will be available at 28, who you got?

Post#1 » by EvanZ » Sun Jun 17, 2018 10:23 pm

Highest ranked players on my big board left at 28 accounting for Green Room invites and Doncic.

Read on Twitter
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Huerter, Evans or Bates

I saw your post about Okogie's possible age problem and kinda bumped him off my list. Won't be pissed if they take him though.

Of those guys, I’d probably go with Troy Brown. Versatile 2 way player, wing with length and good BBIQ we can always use, especially with Iggy’s age. And only 18, although that might work against him being drafted on this team.

But I will be really surprised if Troy Brown is still on the board at #28.

Anyone but Bruce Brown. It’s way too close to Bruce Bowen sounding.

Well when I googled Okogie I was greeted with a highlight video that called him "the next Rayvonte Rice".

So I guess not Okogie?

more like Troy "Doo Doo" Brown, amirite? That dude has the slowest first step I've ever seen.

Diop looks like he has an NBA skillset, but not the highest ceiling

Okogie from Muskogee is a beast, I'm all in

Mitchell Robinson looks awful, not a fan of Spellman

Don't know anything about any of the other guys.

Shake Milton is my pick. If Spellman is there, I think you have to think long and hard about grabbing him. Love Shamet and Diop….Frazier is working out with Dubs today, like him as well.

Bates-Diop or Okogie....full disclosure: I haven’t spent much time researching guys for this draft so I could be way off :)

Mitchell Robinson would be there at 28?? I've seen limited stuff on him but man, the upside.

Really bummed that Gary Trent Jr wasnt on the list. But for the rest:

1) Troy Brown - Livingston replacement down the line? God help the league if he develops his outside shot
2) Omari Spellman - maybe a reach but damn that kid can move fast for someone so big
3) Josh Okogie - even if you buy the age stuff, kid is good
4) Keita Bates-Diop - late-developing Trevor Ariza type
5) Shake Milton - only recently delved into him, good offense, but his defense? Well, good offense.
6) Landry Shamet - the NBA always needs another Grevious Vasquez

Top 3 to avoid:

1) Kevin Huerter - shoots well. That's about it. Shrimpy arms is a tough thing to overcome in NBA on perimeter
2) Bruce Brown - his type (minimal scoring SG that can pass) usually doesnt stick in NBA, usually late developers if they stick with it
3) Jacob Evans - 3&D type with questionable 3, D could be product of team/coach

Dont know enough about Musa or Mitchell Robinson to have an opinion one way or another

you probably watch a lot more college ball than I do FNQ, so I could be completely off-base, but I don't see how it's possible Brown is an NBA player based on what I've seen. He looks slow, passive, mechanical (Harrison Barnes-like), and doesn't really have an outside shot.

Troy Brown?

Extremely inconsistent. Playing the long game if you draft him. I watched him just annihilate us and Stanford back to back in person, then I watched him vs Arizona.. and he was invisible. Started really bad and rallied at the end, but way after game was decided in OT.

Passive I havent seen. Slow.. eh, he can turn it up. He lulled our guys to sleep and then just ran right by them.

I guess the best comp for me would be a more athletic Klay Thompson minus the jumper. Troy is a great defender and underrated passer, but other than that he's got a bit of a ways to go. Feel like here, we could slowly coax the potential out of him offensively by putting him with a squad where he only has to do the bare minimum to get points.

FWIW I’m watching the ESPN mock draft show and Woj has Troy Brown going 18th overall. He’s pretty plugged in obviously. Woj has the Warriors taking Bates-Diop...he also said the Warriors will try to buy a 2nd round pick in the 30’s....and for those interested, he has the Celtics taking Okogie at #27.

I actually like the comparison to Evan Turner for Troy Brown.

Troy Brown
Omari Spellman
Josh Okogie
Bate Diop

Are the only 4 from that list I'm interested in.

From that group I'm taking Bates-Diop first. He's exactly what we need.

Bates-Diop game is nice. Not as explosive as I would like, but he will definitely fill a need.
