Jay Williams, who does The Boardroom show with KD, said KD was assured by the Warriors that he would only risk rein jury of his calf.

If that's the case or if KD believes Warriors made those assurances, I don't see KD re-signing with the Warriors.

Assured by who? His own doctors that cleared him? I’m so tired of these media guys right now. Nobody outside of the inner circle really knows what happened or how he feels about it.

Apparently KD called Klay before he even left the arena to offer encouragement. Klay’s dad said he gave them privacy, but in dad’s words, they have “unfinished business” together.

He’s coming back.

Would be awesome to see them to return together next year. I expect Klay back around the end of the regular season to early May. KD might miss the entire playoffs though even if he resigns.

Ironically....this may have been one of the only ways this team runs it back..

Sorry guys. I really hope KD exercises his player option and stays with the Warriors next year.

But I hope he leaves the year after, after he's done rehabbing. :D

That is so illogical. I fire that agent for proposing that onsite.

He will get max by GSW or NYK if true. Why have only $31 mil, and get $0 if body not right? When you get $150+ mil in pocket guaranteed.... And risk nothing while getting more money next year too. Furthermore, rumor is GSW gave him an out clause when/where he is ready to leave with $220 mil in pocket :banghead:

Yeah, I don't know where KD goes, but I think injury guarantees he will sign long term. I'm doubtful we will see a 1+1 from anyone all offseason. All these players were watching KD and then Klay and that's their most recent nba memory come contract time.

problem with that is KD also got assurances from his own doctors too, who also green lighted his return

if he leaves, I doubt it'll have anything to do with the injury...in fact I think think the injury made it more likely he comes back tbh.

We've been hearing about this "done deal" business with KD and Kyrie in NY all season long. And maybe there is/was some merit in it. However, in recent weeks, we've also been hearing that Kyrie to the Nets is a done deal, and that he HOPES to lure KD to come with him. Well, no way the KD/Kyrie to NY and Kyrie to the Nets can both be true. So, I conclude that we don't really know what's going on.

If anything, I see the more recent reports of Kyrie looking hard at the Nets as an indication that perhaps plans between Kyrie and KD have changed, or that they never existed. That would seem to very much favor the Warriors. Meeting up with Kyrie in New York is also not really any indication that it's over for the W's and KD. Kyrie would be meeting up with KD regardless of which way KD is leaning. And KD spending the summer in New York doesn't really mean much since that's where his doctor is. Last offseason KD spent in Los Angeles. Meant nothing.

Another thing that makes me think he very well might stick with GSW is that I have to think he wanted more than two titles out of this situation. Surely, he wanted to at least match LeBron in titles, right? Or, maybe it's not important to him. Who knows. If he does want titles, the GSW is clearly his best bet.

There was a rumor posted maybe a week ago that the W's were going to propose to KD to sign him to the 5-year max, but agree to trade him if he decided at any point to leave. That would have to be very, very intriguing to KD. He'd get his financial security, have another shot at a ring or two, and maintain all of his flexibility. In fact, his flexibility would increase because he wouldn't be limited to signing with teams significantly under the cap. It would be great for the W's, too, since we'd get another title run or two out of him and we'd be able to trade him for at least some kind of asset (although in this situation we wouldn't be shopping him around the league looking for a massive haul - it would be finding a deal that would work under the rules with the team of KD's chosing).

I don't pretend to know what KD will do. None of us will really know until KD himself says something. In the meantime, the Warriors seem confident that they're still in the KD business. So, I'll remain optimistic until KD actually announces a decision to leave.

I didn't believe that rumor when it came out, and I don't believe it now. It would be illegal to write it into a contract, so it would have to be a verbal agreement, which would be worthless. Besides, if he wanted out he could just do what all the other big stars do and demand a trade. No need for an agreement.

Windhorst says a ign and trade is being discussed.

Maybe the trade wouldn’t occur right away. And KD would need a no trade clause to make sure he ends up on the team he wants.

Can't get a no-trade clause, have to be with a team 4 years to be eligible.

This rumor was floated a couple weeks ago. I don't believe Windhorst is claiming any new information here. My first choice, of course, is to have KD decide to stay long term. Second choice would be to do this sign-and-trade. It's unorthodox, and I have no idea whether KD would even entertain such an idea. If he felt he could trust the W's (I assume he'd be fairly comfortable in that situation, but who knows), he could lock in his 5-year supermax money and still end up at the destination of his choice. It would even broaden his possibilities because he wouldn't be limited to teams under the cap. W's would obviously benefit by gaining assets in return, rather than lose KD for nothing (my least favorite choice). The biggest issue, seems to me, would be whether KD would want his future team to have to give up enough assets to make the trade work under the collective bargaining agreement. Anyway, we're just going to have to wait a couple more weeks to see what KD decides.

W's will be a contending team (once healthy) for at least the next several years. However, it will be a big challenge to find enough younger talent to build up our bench - a bench that will have to take on a bigger and bigger role as our main guys continue to put on years/games.

Thing is, Knicks player with the highest cap number is Lance Thomas at $7.6 million for next season and then he's UFA.

They may try to dump players like DSJ or Frank N. each making under $5 million.

Only way it works with the Knicks is they send back like 5 players since they'd have to send back $30-40 million in salaries?

How is this any different than signing him and promising to trade him if he wants?

They could sign a player(s) with their cap space and send them to us once the moratorium expires, no?

Kinda like when a team intends to trade a draft pick so they make the selection for the team the pick is eventually going to.
