He's just never been an elite rebounder at any level. So I really don't expect it to happen now that he's in the NBA. I think he's got the potential to be one of the best backup forwards in the league, who can spot start when needed. But it's probably a bad thing if our eventual Dray replacement is Paschall. Still an amazing draft pick.

It's confounding that he doesn't rebound well. He clearly has a good motor, he tries hard on defense and he's got the body to rebound. I wonder if it's just never been something he focuses on. It's funny (and annoying) to hear normies and idiots like Reggie Miller make the baby Draymond comparison. He's nothing like that. But Paschall could very well become Corey Maggette with better court vision and a willingness to move the ball around. That's a super valuable bench piece.

Paschall is a bench scoring 4. We might be able to run some offense around him with the bench units but I wouldn’t think of him as an end of the game type player.

The Maggette comparison is something I thought in my head a few times this year. I never said it out loud because it scared me that the guy I wanted to draft looked so much like one of my least favorite Warriors lol.

That being said, like mentioned above, a cheaper, higher motor, and better passing version of Maggette is a very good bench piece. Just try not to think of Bad Porn or the Regrette era.

What's encouraging is that he's already about as good as Maggette was, at least by my estimation. Maggette was the precursor to Harden in his shameless foul hunting. Pashcall wants to dunk everything, contact be damned. I was pretty low on Paschall around the halfway point in the season. Some of that may have been him hitting the rookie wall, but I was seriously discouraged by the low rebounding numbers, the poor defense, and his occasional tunnel vision. But those final games in the season where he was driving and dishing were a revelation. If the 3 goes to 35%+, he can get 15 ppg + off of the bench in the near future.

It bugs me when players play to the refs rather than play basketball. It is like a child tattletaing. Magette was trying to draw the foul more than he was trying to put the ball in the Bucket. Maggette was effective by I hated it and did not think going for the foul as the primary object should be part of the game. Harden makes is even worse because the refs give him gifts that Maggette did not get. Harden is worse because nothing seems to make Harden happier that getting a ref to make a really bad call.

Michael Jordan drew plenty of fouls but he was trying to get the ball in the basket. Not avoiding contact is very different than seeking contact. So far I think Paschall is just not avoiding contact. If I start thinking Pascall is focused more on drawing the foul than on getting the ball in the basket then I want Paschall traded because I don't want to watch that even if it works.

I don't want James Harden on the Warriors even if we can get him for the vet minimum. I would rather not win a championship than win a championship with James Harden. Odd thing is I loved Harden in college and Harden as a rookie because he played smart. He still plays smart but I hate the exploiting the refs game.

I agree. But the problem isn't the players, it's the refs for being played. If the refs never bailed them out they would stop trying very quickly. If you watch the game now the calls on fouls on outside shooters is all over the place ... one play a touch on a hand on the follow through is a foul, on another a player slamming both arms into the follow through is no call ... that inconsistency leads to more effort to take advantage and more complaint looking for the refs to give the player room to work or call the foul on the opponent. Unfortunately I think the fix is going to require some pretty significant changes to the rules and to the officiating.

Paschall has to become a better defender. He’s not the worst, but it has to get better to help us reach our goals. Knowing the rotations better should help him, compared to last season.

Back up power forward 2nd round draft pick. If he improves a little instead of having a 2nd year regresssion like McCaw then I will call Paschall a victory and I will be sattisfied with whatever he dies.

I don’t see Paschall regressing at all. I think he’s going to prove solid with the main group. Hopefully Kerr has figured out how he should use him on offense.

But he does have to improve his defense.

I agree. He's going to have a year of learning and his body should be in much better shape for the grind.

I don't think we can count on Klay and Dray to be our anchors on defense. Age + knees and back issues are too much for them.

Wiggins and whoever plays center will have to take on all the difficult assignments. Let's hope we get Wiseman and let's hope he pans out.

He needs to improve his defense and he needs to learn to score on a team that doesn't suck. Coming off the bench and playing more off the ball could hurt his game.

I like him, but scoring 14 PPG on the worst team in the NBA? I'd be more confident if he was knocking down jumpers and cutting to the basket. I want to see him play at a higher level.

The good thing with Paschall is he has shown he can be a 1st/2nd option on a bench squad or garbage time squad. He should really try to own this role next season. It's his bread and butter. Go get us buckets when our stars aren't.

He hasn't shown that he can affect the game positively while next to our stars. Will need to continue to improve as a shooter, cutter, passer in order for this to happen.

And of course gotta keep learning defense and not falling asleep on the boards.
