Trade Thread (EPISODE VI: Can't we just put EVERYTHING in the TE?)

Post#1 » by azwfan » Sun Nov 15, 2020 3:52 pm

Previous thread can be found here

ChuckDurn wrote:Some big news came out this morning:
1. Trades can be consummated starting at noon Eastern time tomorrow (the 16th);
2. The $17.2M trade exception will expire on 11/18, not 11/25 (as had been expected). 11/18 is, of course, when the draft is taking place and getting most or all of the focus.

#2 creates a problem for the Warriors (compared to what the 25th would have offered). Since free agency won’t start until 11/20, the Warriors have to decide whether to use the TPE (and/or who to use it on) before they have any idea who they can get in free agency. I kind of wonder if that’s a bit of “evening out” by the league for the recent change on the luxury tax penalties, which many felt really benefitted the Warriors (and made it more likely they’d use the TPE). The Warriors can still use it, but now they’re much more “flying blind” if they do, and also are going to be dealing with all the draft stuff at the same time.

Myers ain’t getting any sleep for the foreseeable future.

Awesome news! Starting tomorrow there should be some actual news/movement non-stop till we win the Finals in July, followed right after getting Minnesota’s top 10 pick!

Usually there’s a lot of intel, but some of it isn’t accurate. There’s always some surprises or changes.

Ah.... yep. He (and Anthony Slater) both reported it was going to be the 18th. He’s now changed that. The 23rd is much more Warriors-friendly.

Separately, it looks like the Lakers are about to make a deal with OKC, centering around Schroeder for Danny Green + #28. Crap.....

Must means they believe Rondo is leaving & Caruso takes up bigger minutes (which he deserves). Also Caruso can be used in trades. If they somehow land DeRozan....

Bob needs to make some moves and not get caught last. This period you need to act quick

Is the rest of the NBA allowed to get shot up with whatever it is Lebron’s on?

Steph might play till he’s 55

Lakers needed bench scoring and guard help. It might also mean that Avery Bradley might opt out of this new season because of. Covid.

Rondos' vet experience is invaluable and he gets paid next to nothing. I say they try and keep him and have Schroeder in the microwave/6th man role.

How did we not hop on that Schroeder trade? I thought he was like arguably the best player that fits into the TPE. I would think freeing the Thunder cap space with our TPE + our own 2021 pick would be a better deal. Just seems like a drop ball opportunity, a lot of people questioned whether we would get anyone notable during this offseason.

I would take Rondo to play backup point guard here.

Fournier fits into the TPE, he would be a capable 6th man playing 1-3.

Hate Fournier, but mostly because he won’t just take the plunge and shave his head. It tells me he is to proud to proud to listen to good advice lol.

You listening Alex Caruso!!!!!!

So they move Green at 15mil and get Shroeder. Plus move for their bench scoring.

Then they add Matthews for basically the vet minimum.

Rob Pelinka doing work.

I guess the news we are waiting to drop is that Gallinari is coming here on the MLE. I actually thought the Lakers would bid for Gallo, maybe not. I am sure the Clippers will, would rather have him than Morris.

Am I stupid or is Wiggins, Looney, Paschall and the 2nd for Westbrook not the worst trade for either side?

Maybe I'm stupid, but I can't understand why anyone would want Westbrook on the Warriors.

Westbrook is on the Mt. Rushmore of players that I never want to see in a Warriors' uniform.

If Westbrook came here I would boycott everything Warriors until he was gone. Not even joking.... All TVs would be broken before the end of the first game, watching that shooting punce call his own number with Steph and Klay watching on.

Return to Golden State Warriors
