Just give Bogut the Ron Adams treatment and make him a lifetime hig man guru. Let him come in here and teach our bigs the art of funneling.

I wonder if he would even be open to spending time here in the states for a portion of the year?

Wanamaker’s contract is more than the minimum, meaning that it has to be applied against the MLE. (We’ve applied for the Disabled Player Exception in order to help replace Klay, but it will take time to get approved, so that’s not currently available).

Wanamaker’s deal is for $2.25M, and the total (taxpayer) MLE is $5.7M, so we have about $3.45M more that could be used.

We don’t need to offer him the minimum. Even with the Wanamaker signing, we could off GR3 up to $3.4M (within the MLE).

GR3 is definitely worth more than the minimum..... and should be paid like it.

Didn’t we have some other exceptions? Or did those expire? Or they weren’t enough to make the 2.25?

Thank you! That’s what I thought, which is why the Gasol intrigue seemed odd.

Gasol doesn't have a lot left in the tank. I'm from Toronto and fans were pretty livid about him in the bubble. I can see the value as a mentor to our bigs, but he won't add much value on the court imo.

Gasol most certainly would have been DPE.

But that’ll take time to be granted. And it seemed like a signing was imminent. That with a couple of reports that we had the full MLE is what got me confused.

Not for our team. (And also not in Advanced Stats.)

We have 1 good shooter on the team who you’d want to have on the court for a decent amount of time - Curry. Mulder has shown he can shoot in the G-League, but not in the NBA, and he may not even end up on the roster due to roster size limits. We think Damion Lee is a good shooter, but in actuality he’s at only 35-36%, which isn’t above the league average.

We absolutely need more shooting. Bazemore has shot 34% and 32% in the last 2 years. Teams will happily leave him wide open every game. If he’s hot...... great. In the more frequent times when he’s bricking his shots, we’ll have no spacing, and will just be trying to stop the other team.

Robinson is such a better fit for this roster than Bazemore.

Or maybe he was injured and didn’t use it as an excuse?

Not sure if some are serious about Bogut, but he is completely done. May as well look at Bill Russell as an option if Bogut is.

Until the DPE is approved by the league, the only exception we had to sign free agents making more than the minimum (as Wanamaker is) is the MLE.

TPE’s can only be used to absorb players via trade.

Not only had I forgotten about Willie Caulie-Stein, but I have completely errased his time with us out of my mind. Why the Mavs gave him any more money I have no idea. That dude is a bum of the highest order.

Not counting whatever is left over from Oubre, they have about six trade exceptions, the biggest being $2.1M (Cauley-Stein), expires 1/25/21, unless they change the date. The rest are pretty much below minimum salaries.
