I was surprised, too. I went to look up his stats and was shocked to see his age. Could have sworn he was at least 34-35.

Totally...I thought he was 35 or something...

I feel like the 10 nicest things said about Batum in the last 5 years are in this thread.

It all depends on how much your paying them :D If your paying him 27+ mil dollars then not so good. If you pay him vet min then it's a steal as you can cut bait easily if it doesn't work.

Batum is cooked, I have no idea why we’d be looking at him.

I've always liked him, but he hasn't been relevant for 5 years. Not sure what he'd bring to the table other than a vet presence.
He used to be pretty dependable all around stats guy, circa 2012...

Agree that GR3 would be a better pick up

Probably cause he’s always hurt.

Not sure that is actually true. In the last 8 years he'd played over 72 games all but twice. So ...eh...I think that's pretty decent availability.

One thing I did notice is he looked a little heavy in this last year.

I think Batum would be a good addition. His traits fit this team really well. His worse years is when the team got rid of kemba walker. Get that man some curry and bam.

Batum was paid like an Allstar, but didn't deliver with his time in Charlotte due to inconsistent play and injuries. He is and was never a first or even second option. I'd think he'd thrive as a point forward like Iggy or to some extent KD with us, and don't force things too much. Our system is made to find open shooters and cutters through our motion offense.

If we don't get GRIII (Or sign both), then Batum should be next in line, as I don't see any reason to pass up on him as his value is way low right now.

Curry / Wanamaker /Mannion
Wiggins / Poole / GR3 / *Thompson
Oubre / Batum / Bazemore
Green / Paschall
Wiseman / Looney/ Chriss / Smiley

X-Factors:
1) 2nd year players (Poole and Paschall) elevated their game this offseason and avoid Sophmore Slump.
2) Invigorated Batum plugged into our system thrives.

Batum is a nice addition. If he is healthy he can help us. Agent is trying to sell the idea he isn't washed of course but says he's in great shape, down 22 lbs and feels better than ever.

I think health was a main issue for Batum so if his body is right he will be a great bench piece for us.

Until a few seasons ago he was damn good. If he can find motivation in a more competitive team he can help us.

If you look at the limited games he played last year, he did seem a little chunkier than usual. That and the prime weapon in Kemba walker wasn't there anymore. When your prime weapon is able to pass and you have no one to pass to, then it makes a difference IMO

Batum exercised his player option and will be making $27 million this season. Feel free to educate me what planet that would work on money-wise or basketball-wise.

He's going to be waived by all accounts, that's why people are talking about him.

Wow. Charlotte is just going to eat that? Good lord.

Okay, pay him twenty bucks to fill out the bench as a vet, and if he adds value, great, if not, there's the door.

Batum was a really solid all-around player. Maybe being in Charlotte sucked his soul, which would be understandable. Call me skeptical.

BTW, thanks for explaining the obvious answer to my question without pointing out I'm an idiot. Much appreciated.
