Who knows, maybe this leads to #1 pick in 2022.

Finally Dallas starting to fight back. Just go at D'lo every possession!

Orlando loses, Wolves up big going into the 4th. If they win, the odds are automatically 6th, with 10% chance of getting 4.

Can Minny blow a 22 point lead in just a little over 9 minutes?

Incredible. Carlyle was watching the scores and decided with 6 or so minutes left in the game that he would rather get the Nuggets in the 1st round so he tossed in the towel and vaulted the Blazers into a Clippers matchup.

Or maybe I'm wrong but that's what the TWolves TV team was saying.

Mavs are 5th, and they face the Clips. They finished in a 3 way tie, which they would win as the Southwest division winner.

It's so funny then that the TWolves TV team was incredulous that Carlyle wouldn't put his starters back in to try to win.

So here we are according to tankathon. No chance at the 5th pick.

2022 unprotected - 29.5%
2021 pick 4 - 10.1%
2021 pick 6 - 8.5%
2021 pick 7 - 28.5%
2021 pick 8 - 20.0%%
2021 pick 9 - 3.6%
2021 pick 10 - 0.1%

I'm cool with this. Anything we get in addition to trading dLO for Wiggins is gravy.

A pretty awful outcome considering what it looked like we might be getting earlier, should have traded that pick when it still had a lot of value. As it is, sure you might get a decent player at #7-#8, but it's unlikely to be a future franchise cornerstone. Obviously they still need to choose well regardless of position. I keep thinking about Haliburton at #12. Those guys are always out there but hard to identify (although honestly, Haliburton never should have fell to 12).

the best the pick could have been was 4 or 5 and they still have a chance at landing the 4th pick, not so terrible. Is the drop off from Kuminga to Johnson, Barnes and Moody that great?

This draft is special. I have a top 4 tier all of whom would have been easily #1 last year, but the 2nd tier down to 10 is going to have a couple all-stars in it and would have been top 3 picks last year.

#4 would be awesome (Green or Suggs), but #6 or 7 with Kumiga, Barnes, Johnson? Those are still good to great players.

I'm cool with this. Anything we get in addition to trading dLO for Wiggins is gravy.

It's a bit of a rough outcome based on the fact that a month ago the Dubs had a 60% chance at the 4/5, and now have a 10% chance at the 4 and 60% chance at the 6-9. That said, the fact that they now have a 70%+ chance of taking the pick might be worth it. And who knows, we might get lucky and snag that 4.

All in all, in this exact draft I really can't complain as long as they land a pick. I already prefer Wiggins over D-Lo on this roster + his next two seasons should be his peak in both role and performance. Trade was a confirmed success (regardless of what happens luck wise with the lotto).

Just a thought...but in order to avoid complete embarrassment, would the Wolves trade KAT to the Warriors for Wiggins and to get their pick back?

Not sure if your serious. The Wolves traded Wiggins and that first to get DLo... so why would they trade for the same package back when the draft pick now has far less value than it did?

Or another way to put it.... if they traded Towns for Wiggins and their first round pick back, the trade would essentially end up being Towns for DLo straight up which is obviously nowhere near to being in the ballpark of fair and also the reason they originally traded for DLo was to ensure keeping Towns long term anyway.
